EDIT:
FWIW to anyone searching for compatibility, hope this helps:
- Although I can't verify this by physical examination. All the info obtained confirms that this unit uses the following batteries:
-- 16340*2
-- 18350*2
-- 18650*2 - You need to request the extension tube at time of purchase
#####

I'll be ordering a PL445-1600 from laserbtb pretty soon and I'm trying to figure out which batteries it supports, particularly 18650's. But also other members' opinions/experiences with other battery types too :yh:

I've looked through a few older threads, mainly these 2.

http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/laserbtb-com-source-all-laser-needs-6-109058640691-a-91816.html

http://laserpointerforums.com/f44/skylaser-pl445-battery-question-87829.html

It would appear they for sure support 16340's and 18350's. 18650's are also mentioned too.

Can anyone confirm if it supports 2x 18650?
Button top or flat top?
Does it need an extension for 18650 x 2?
** It's mentioned an extension tube is required for using 2 18650's

I'm mainly interested in 18650's since I vape and already have a bunch of good quality high drain IMR's laying around. Orbtronic SX30, Sony VTC5, and some Efest Purple 2600's.

I tried contacting laserbtb via the email address on their site but didn't get a reply yet :yabbem:

* My apologies for not introducing myself first.

So laserbtb emailed me back. Unfortunately all it said was 16340x2 with no other explanation.

Guess we'll see when it arrives :)

I don't have one of those but if I were you I would have two button top 16340 on hand and charged when it arrives. If it's true that it can also use two 18350, then it can also fit one 18650 but I doubt that can power it, but maybe it can at a low power, try it and see.

dont think their hosts for 405/445 supports 18650 only 16340 for some reason.. to me this makes no sense since the other PL hosts take 18650 batteries i would also prefer them to take those yea..

Yea I'm a little confused lol.
The thread I linked mentions supporting 18350 x 2. Or 18650 x 2 if you get an extension tube.
These models come in alumium cases. These models run on 2x 18350 / 16340. But if you purchase an extension tube. You can put in 2x 18650.

But when I emailed laserbtb the reply was literally one line "16340x2"

As suggested though I might as well just get a pair of 16340's anyways. Only $10 w/ free shipping for a pair of Efest 700mAh on Amazon

That's got to be a mistaken employe. If it will take 2-18650 with an extension they must take 18350 batteries. I'd email them again and point this out. However if you need quality 16340 battery's Nitcores 700mah tested slightly better than Efest on my Opus charging station.

I got another email from them stating they do sell an extension tube for 18650's for $10 (+$15 shipping). I'm trying to see if I can have it added to the existing order which hasn't shipped yet.

I ended up ordering 2 Efest 16340's and 2 Efest 18350's last night prior to their email though lol!!

So it looks like I'm all set on batteries! :D

For future reference should anyone stumble upon this post. THIS info is correct as of today.

What's really awesome is my boss ended up getting me it as a b-day present. I had shared the link with him to check out. Got a message a while later, "happy b-day, it's on its way. Make sure I get to check it out when it arrives!" - he got the 2000mW model w/ tripod.

Now comes the worst part..... waiting for it to arrive :pop:

I think he shipped it DHL

3 IT jobs in 15 years.. Best boss, and job, ever lol! :yh:

For now I picked up 2 of the UVEX S0360X in last night's order. But if this becomes a full-time hobby/obsession then I'll be investing in something better for sure..I wear prescription glasses so some clip-ons with side shields would be cool.

Still waiting for it to arrive. I emailed them early last week and they're including the 18650 extension tube free as gift!! Haven't received shipping notification yet though so I'm not sure if it's even shipped yet :(

However the batteries and safety glasses will be here today.

Excited. The anticipation is killing me lol.

I'll be posting a review of it when it does finally get here though and will also update my original post to reflect the confirmed supported battery types since I'll have all 3 to test with.

When I originally commente6d I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get four emails with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thanks!

I think you need to go to
- User CP
- Click "List Subscriptions" on the left
- A new window will open showing your subscriptions - from there you can unsubscribe, disable notifications, etc.

Well.... customs seized my laser! They said it had no warning labels, no "safety information" and no certification stickers.

I emailed laserbtb. I suppose they'll have me wait until the official letter from customs arrives to send to them.

Hopefully we can get a refund or something :(

Hi keep your money in the states over seas orders for that are iffy . LPF build your own or buy from some trusty person here in the forum. Why worry about customs when you can get quality lasers built right here. I my self built 18 already. There's nothing like it and you can say I made this. Anyway wish you all the luck buy from this forum a lot of folks here will point you in the right direction . Great folks right here at your finger tips. Hope this helps you I the future. :)
As for you batteries if it takes 2-18350's it will take 2-18650's with the extension just more capacity with 18650's and the host will be longer.

I'm looking in the FS section now for someone in the US selling one with similar spec.

If someone has one pm me? I don't think I can post in there yet though

I'm could build my own but severely lack the time. Afraid the parts would end up in the giant pile of half finished projects lol
