Diode --------------------- Decanned M140 diode (By DTR)
Driver --------------------- Flex Drive @ 1.4A :eg: (By Dr. Lava)
Lens ---------------------- 3 Element Glass AR Coated (By ebay: Techhood)
Batt ---------------------- LI-Ion (generic)


Oh well I choose this host because I liked his "slimness" and chromed looking.
After assembly, it looked so beautiful that I put it inside a little box with some blue paper... for the WOW factor.

It so slim and feel heavy in your hand.. Especially with the copper heatsink.
Compared with unprotected 18650 (and hand):

(wrapped the laser in a cloth before clipping the tripod in, to prevent scratching)

According to the PIV curve of the diode, it should be doing 1.5W with the 3-element glass lens.....

Cool ! :drool:

The Flex Driver was heatsinked with a piece of aluminium from a computer chipset heatsink (notice the lacking "fin"):

Other info:
I had a bad time with the diode. I accidentaly dropped something inside it with the module on while testing, and it baked on the diode can. The output was a blurry, round blue bar. After some months stored, I decided to decan the diode myself.
I had to extract it (without proper tools), decan it (again without tools) and re-insert it inside another module.

The results were astonishing. Clean output and no signs of facet degradation, or any damage at all.

Wow nice build, mate! I love the shiny hosts with high powered diode, elegant but deadly :eg: Great hands you must have as well to remove the diode and decan it without the proper tools!

Thanks for kind words! I love those shiny hosts too...

About the diode and decan:
I thinkered a lot about how to remove the diode from aixiz without tools. Every laser I saw, made me remember of my wrecked diode :D... 3 months later, my mother gave the idea to use an old radio antenna (see pic below) as diode pusher...

I broke the antenna into all it smaller pieces and cut a small piece of tube... one of it "tubes" has around 5mm internal diameter... it fits around the diode CAN, and pushes the diode using its base. Using a vice, it came out easily!

Decanning was not that hard. The vice for holding, and a wire cutter plier, with round moves, to decan slowly.

Decanning a diode also increases the power.
Well, the drill method worked pretty well for me. I used a single-edged razor blade to make the cut.

I first practiced on a 445 that was LED'd, and it still lit up afterward.

Then I did the same on a 445 that had a smudged/scratched window. Beforehand I measured 890mW from it. Afterward it measured 1150mW.
