Default A-140 Pin Out?

Hi, i am a bit confused about the pin out on the A-140 diode. Here is a pin out diagram:

I am making my own driver with this diagram:

I am not using a host i am just connecting it up to a power supply. I have seen that you need to solder the "-" to the case pin, this doesn't seem right for what i am doing. I am just simply doing this:

Do i just wire the LD+ to the Positive of the diode and the LD- to the negative of the diode? Now what do i do with the not used or case pin? Do i solder it to the negative, do i leave it alone?

Thanks

whatever you do-- never power a bare diode-- HS is a must

AND dont forget to short out any caps

Yes. No need to do anything with the case pin.
But with 4Ohm + 100ohm pot you are barely going to let the diode lase...
Only when the pot is turned all the way, kinda defeating its purpose...
And 6 volt aren't going to cut it, you need at least 7, preferrably 8V on the input side.

Yes sorry i forgot to mention that i did not draw any of these diagrams i just found them and i am going to modify them to my likings, but what resistor do you recommend for this diode? I was thinking of a 1ohm.

Thanks

EDIT: Oh yes i am using 2 18650 batteries which are 3.7v each that will give me a total of 7.4v. And i am also using a 50ohm pot.

From my limited experience, sounds good to me.
Don't forget to heatsink the diode somehow properly, so the fun will not be shortlived

Good, anyone else think that a 1ohm resistor will be good for about a 1.4w drivin at 1.5mA? I am going to put a heatsink onto the driver.

I also was thinking what goggles should i get for this laser i am going to build. I want somthing that i can feel safe using and are not expensive. I would pay about £25 or $38. I was thinking of buying 2 sets of these goggles from o-like. There has been some bad reviews though but apparently they have changed the glasses, i don't know if they are still safe though. If anyone has bought these glasses recently please post a review.

405nm,450nm,473nm,532nm laser safety goggles [OLGLG532] - $19.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

I was also thinking of these:

Laser Glasses - UV to Green Lasers Protection 190-548nm :: Laser Safety :: Dragon Lasers

Can i have your thoughts about this please.

Actually, a 1Ohm resistor will be good for 1250mA. Into how many mWs
that translates depends on your lens and on the efficiency of your particular diode.

Much more important is that you don't forget to heatsink the DIODE.

I would never forget this , Thanks anyway. Are you sure 10 ohms is good because 10 ohms? In my mind would not allow enough current through to the diode.

Any help with finding good safety glasses for a 445nm laser. I was thinking maybe from dragon lasers?

Actually he said 1 Ohm but it looks like 10 Ohms. I had to read it about 4 times before I caught that. The glasses I got for my 445 are from OEM Laser Systems and cost me about $85 shipped IIRC but they are a very high quality build. Well worth the cost IMO.

Link: https://www.oemlasersystems.com/prod...-argon-blu-ray

The lenses look really translucent in that pic for some reason but they're not in person.

You may want to look at this thread too. Eagle Pair safety glasses both 200-450nm and 580-760nm from powerfulpurchase on Ebay

I bought the glasses that cover the reds (the blue ones in the pic) and they work great. My tests showed almost the exact same results as Kenom's. (I suspect the minor difference was my LPM picking up ambient heat) The seller is great too. After the USPS lost the initial shipment she bent over backwards and did everything short of hand delivering them to make sure I got them. I would have no problem buying another pair from her.

I have a couple of pairs of these
Laser Safety Goggles
and they work quite well. Well they work great for $15, Im tempted to get 2 more pairs to take apart and layer the lenses for even better protection.
