Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Yes,

You are on the list. I am waiting on heat sinks though for yours and several others. They should be here Wednesday or Thursday. Everything will be ready to go so it will not take me but a few minutes to put the heat sinks on, Pack them up and get them out.

Expected shipment day will be Friday or Saturday morning.

I will make a post when I have the heat sinks so everyone waiting will be sure I can deliver on time and pay for theirs.

After this there will be little waiting if any for these kits. Just check out this beautiful sight.

Just a few more steps on these and MisterWillings good hard work will be done till the next batch.

Thanks,

Ryan

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Yes Jay,
All CNC machined!

It's a great sight. Just the thought of not manually doing them any more is such a relief. It's a lot of work. This saves me about ½ the total time it takes to build a kit and costs less than the time does too. Win win.

I will PM everyone who has put their name on one or has even shown interest when the parts are all in hand and I am at a ready to ship state.

Thanks,

Ryan

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

I would like to buy one. I'm not skilled enough to build it yet though. Still fumbling, I've killed more lasers in the past week than probably anyone here. Would you sell me one that is plug and play? I think I can hook up a battery w/o termination. What will the grand total be if so? (with all the recommended options) Thank you for your consideration.:takeit:

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

OK so there are a few options to consider. I assume you at least want a White Fusion with lasers built in and alignment done so let’s start there.

Currently I have 4 tested GGW diodes coming in for Plug and Play White Fusions. These are 6x blu-ray diodes and set the mark for how much power the rest of the build will produce.

Here is the cost breakdown.

White Fusion Kit........$150 (minus any discounts you may have)
Tested GGW BRD.......$52
LPC Red...................$10
30mW Green Module...$20
Shipping to me..........$5

Total Parts for 6x......$237

EDIT: I can believe I forgot to put a 405 g1 lens option and the aixiz module in here.
I can cover the Aixiz no problem but add $60 if you want a 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs AixiZ!!. In effect ths will increase the output of all 3 lasers by as much as 28% because the Green and Red are both under driven to balance with the BRD. Increase the BRD and the rest follow.

Feel free to substitute your own parts if you like.

Drivers are a variable.
You can go with any standard pen drivers and get a 7 color pointer or spiro. If you are going to go this route I suggest just using 3 lm317 DDL drivers. There is usualy room for them + Batteries in most enclosures. I can build all 3 DDL drivers on one board for a small fee.

FireMyLaser's driver that has controller built into it with 24 embedded programs for doing all kinds of effects. I haven’t seen this driver yet but I’m anxiously waiting for mine to arrive. From the demonstrations FML has shown I think it’s going to be a great choice for any laser hobbyist wanting turnkey effects in a small package.
Last but not least there is the FlexMod drivers from Dr Lava. These are analog modulated drivers intended to be used for making a laser projector system. This means you will also need a computer, Software, DAC and Scanners to make full use of these drivers.

Driver Choices:
3x DDL.................................$20
FireMyLasers driver.................$60
Flex Mod drivers X3 shipped..….$95

Again you can supply the drivers if you have others in mind.

Now alignment and color balance is another variable at this point. I plan to build 4 at a time in order to reduce the time per build but still allow for individual attention to detail. My best estimate for the time cost for this will be between $50 and $75. I’m reserving the right to up this cost though because it may take longer to get perfect alignment and it doesn’t make sense to do all this and not end up with perfection.

This is as close to done as I think I can legally make them for people in some countries like the US.

Thanks,

Ryan

This thing looks awesome! Put me down for one of those $237 kits :D I'm going to use some FlexMods with my scanner and DAC to make a full colour analog scanner :)

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

The laser parts listed are not for sale directly. There are plenty of great people on this site that sell laser electronics. I only stock for builds and my own R&D. At times I do have greenies that are not stable at lower power so not good for making a balanced White Fusion. They are fine at their factory set current so I don't mind selling those if I have any but for the most part I'm only interested in providing DIY laser solutions for people with different levels of DIY ability.

Building installed aligned and balanced lasers in the White Fusion kit is my next attempt at providing a solution for those who have the DIY skills to do the rest of the build but don't want to attempt this project from scratch. I only earn money from the time and know how I put into them and don't try to make much if anything on parts.

You got it. I expect those builds to take several weeks so please be patient. I have your name on one though.

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Hi, and thanks for the best thing I have seen. I do want one since I have been pulling my beard out hair by hair on trying to mix laser colors. :undecided: I am trying to delevope my own projector the hard way. I know it is smarter to buy right out BUT? Knowing who it works is GREAT. OK-- Please let me know when I can get one. :yh: Thanks John

Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit

Hi John,

There is a waiting list for Loaded kits forming but if you are comfortable with doing the installation and alignment of your own lasers yourself, the expected ready to ship of the next run is Oct-31. The list of people who want non loaded kits is getting full too but I think I can fit a few more without effecting anyone but if push comes to shove it's first come first serve and you may have to wait another week and a half or so for the next run.

Thanks,

Ryan
