Stonetek has some cheap ones that you can experiment with...

They are case positive. I have not messed with IR much at all.

The AixiZ module slide in...

So you have to use a small amount of thermal adhesive. But you still want good contact with the host, so if you use adhesive, use just a spot or two.

I like the 'solder blob' method myself. If you get the module hot enough, it will take some solder. You can use some flux to help. Then you can file the solder spots down a little for a perfect 'press' fit. See here:

Yes, I say that because a full length AixiZ module will fit. So since a rkcstr driver fits inside an AixiZ module, I'm sure it could fit this host!

Fine, flexible wire is recommended for this tight build. I like the wire found inside a mouse cord...

Re: FS: New Pen Host Kits! All Parts Included - Nice!

I was thinking about putting a lpc-815 in one of these using a rckstr driver. So if I make it case negative, I can just solder the case pin of the diode to the negative pin of the diode, and then just connect the positive input of the driver to the positive battery connection, and having nothing connected to the negative input of the driver. Does that sound right?

With the long open can red diode, the negative pin, is the diode case pin. So no need to touch two pins together.

The method you described will work fine, as long as the module is grounded to the host, and the driver used, has it's negative input and output connections internally continuous.

I know for sure that the FlexDrive is made this way. I'm not sure the rkcstr driver is, but perhaps someone can chime in on this...

blackspirt, I have them on hand for you! PM responded...
