Great kit Jay. The violet host really turned out nice. Plus with the extra 84 grams in the head of this thing it makes a real nice club.:p

Glad you like it! :)

I may be also be offering a custom heatsink design like this for it: (with a polished option as well)

It should be at least double the mass!

Jay, here's a picture of the 4D host lasing it up; for some reason I never posted this... :beer:

BTW, I can't wait for the new heatsink. It's always a pleasure to collaborate with you. Make those fins deep, but not so deep that they can be leveraged.

Nice picture!

About my design for your custom heatsink. I'll try cutting the grooves as deep as I can without the tooling binding on me.

But even if they are only 1/8" deep, it will look pretty nice...

Another option for these... :D

Maglite D 'Stubby'

Here's a cool little mod that I did for setting up a large capacity single Li-Ion Maglite...

Mag Stub 1.jpg

Mag Stub 2.jpg

Mag Stub 3.jpg

Mag Stub 5.jpg

This will be great for a single (or dual) FlexDrive set up!

There is plenty of room inside the head to mount the driver (or drivers), heatsinked to the back side of the main sink... :cool:

Pricing for basic 'Stubby' kit:

* Maglite 2 D host - $35 (or send me your Maglite - any D size Maglite can be cut down)
* Massive heatsink - $38
* Prep host (switch) with lead wires - $10
* Re-size the host as shown above - $20

Maglite 'Stubby' Flashlight Mod:

I have a flashlight mod for this too! :cool:

It was a 3 D Maglite that I figured I would not use. So I turned it into this! :)

But in case anybody is wondering, the knurling on the D size Maglites, start at the exact same point under the switch. So it would look the exact same if you cut a 2 D, 3 D, etc...

Dude I am totally digging the maglite mod for the light.

Looks a lot brighter than the original.

Oh you must have seen my Maglite P7 thread I posted last night huh?

Pretty cool huh?

Wait till you see my up coming XM-L T6 build I have coming. It will be a kit form, or a complete build. I'm going to design a custom mount/heatsink to hold the emitter with driver cavity.

I'll be testing 3 mode or 5 mode drivers for it...

It will retain the focusing ability of the Maglite! :cool:

Edit: Finished it...

Check it out!
