I bought a 2w 635 cmount from chris a while ago, just long enough so that I can't do a pp dispute. I first tested it @ 2A, and it only put out 600mW, far from the advertised 1W @ 1.1A and 2W max. I have tried to contacted him but he has ignored me. A few members in this thread Focusing Cmount Diode - Photonlexicon have commented on how the diode may have been a bad one. You can check out his bad reputation here -- Flea-bay bogus dealer....heruursciences - Photonlexicon
You don't see much of his bad reputation here since most people are too ignorant to notice they've been ripped off :P

You for sure aren't the first person to complain about Heruur...I remember pseudo always would tell us to stay away from him.

Lol would you have said the same about jake21 and wesdaman?

;)
I think he just had ''TOO MANY'' diodes and needed to make room.

Chris is a well known scammer. His scams work in one of three ways:

First Way
Sells an item that he claims to work in a certian way and fit a certain application.
Buyer purchases the item, receives it, and it appears to be the correct item though, not tested.
Buyer leaves positive feedback
A few weeks or months later, buyer begins to use the item and realizes the item is not as it was described.
By this point, the deadline for a paypal dispute is passed, or if a dispute is filed, Chris can reference the positive feedback and say it is proof they received the right item.

Second Way
Sells an item that he claims to work in a certian way and fit a certain application.
Buyer purchases the item, receives it, and procedes to test it.
Buyer Discovers item is not as discribed and complains
Seller offers a return for refund
When seller recieves item, he can claim it is either not what was shipped or was damaged by buyer.

Third Way
Sells an item that he claims to work in a certian way and fit a certain application.
Seller ships empty envelope with delivery confirmation to random address in same city as buyer.
Tracking shows item as delivered to the city with no way of figuring out the actual address of delivery.
Buyer files dispute, seller wins due to proof of shipping

Chris has a long history of lies and scams. You can read about some of his history here:

I have personally been ripped off by Chris using his third method.

There's plenty of good and bad info here about Chris. It's really hard to make a determination about him since some people seem to have great experiences, and others seem to be getting outright ripped off. I myself have never gotten anything bad from Chris, but I've never really bought anything expensive from him either. I bought some loose diodes with no guarantee that they would work. Many did, some did not. I am satisfied. That make sense, though. If someone is a scammer and plans to stick around awhile, then they can't just rip everyone off. It's better to keep everyone off-balance. That might be the case here.. but I'm merely voicing a suspicion. I have nothing to back it up with..

wow that bites if he is actually scamming people on purpose he needs his edited zapped off with a very powerfully WORKING diode

Also, if you ever deal with him, quote the entire message as he has a habit of changing them to say things different then what he said in the first place. You will notice that all of his posts on photonlexicon are edited. They all say things completely different then what was there.

To be fair, that HGM problem was actually minor and had little to do with chris. A simple adjustment of the spark gap was in order - that's all. It's working just as well as the day I got it. 5W at 34A.

I do not give refunds for this:

"My wallwart only goes up to 2.1 A. I never turned it up any higher because of that limitation, and I have only run it ~5 sec to take a power reading. I don't know how it died, but it did
Also: the paper says 2W max. "

You admitted to powering it with a wall wort that gave 2.1A, that 2.1A is average power, peak power could be anything. Also nothing about voltage. I dont give refunds for killing laser diodes!

Flea-bay bogus dealer....heruursciences - Photonlexicon

Started by a rival seller who bought low $$ diodes and killed them all for revenge.

Matt proves he is really jealous instead of "scammed" by stealing my old ebay user ID and making comments about me making too much money on ebay etc

50W 808 diode-bar on ebay, worth the cash? - Photonlexicon

Sour grapes over reselling equipment bought from other ebay members.

BUYER BEWARE! EBAY SELLER HERUURSCIENCES!!!!!!!!!! - alt.lasers | Google Groups

Matt gibson's, attempt at flaming and eventual theft of my ebay user name.

HGM won't lase - Photonlexicon

The starter gap was shook loose by the 200# gorillias at UPS- problem was easily fixed.

Ebay YAG Laser - View topic :: Laser Community

Not sure why he put this one there, other than plug for junktronix, a rival seller of mine.

TO BEN:

O i see you rip off people, as there is no information from the paties you wronged it was ever made right.

Nice. I see how you hide your store on a web forum.. and apperently not deliver what you offer at all.

http://laserpointerforums.com/f41/spectraforum-store-41254.html

in particular:

Well I contacted laser_ben last week. He said he no longer really runs the store.

I was asking about the 125mW 532nm portable laser.
He said something about not being able to order smaller quantities anymore.
He did say he would see what he could do and get back to me.

I was a little disappointed. I live very close to him or the store's address. So I would have been able to buy in person.

Also, you better be able to prove your libelous statement that i sent you an empty envelope, Ben.

Ok... I am not stupid... I used a driver... I was unable to turn the driver up past 2.1 A b/c my wall wart would not go past 2.1a, therefore the diode was defective...
I never powered it up w/o a driver, which is why I never was able to power it up until nearly 2 months after I got it; I was waiting for Lava to set current on my driver...

To be fair here, I have never bought a loose laser diode from any small distributor that had any sort of a warranty. Most sellers DO NOT warrant laser diodes at all because they are so sensitive and you just never know just what skills the person who bought them has. One should never assume there is a warranty on laser diodes. Unless it is specifically stated otherwise, there is no warranty and with good reason.

The diode was never up to spec. 600mW @ 2A compared to advertised 1W @ 1.1A and 2W max is not ok. It isn't even close to what was advertised. In fact, it was less than 1/3rd of the advertised power.

^I get what you're saying, and I understand but no warranty means no warranty. I am not endorsing or supporting Chris here, I'm just telling you how it is everywhere else as well.. To make sure I'm being very clear here, I am referring to loose laser diodes only. There are pretty much always warranties available on new complete laser systems. (You may be able to get a warranty on laser diodes if you buy directly from Coherent, Melles-Griot, or some other mainstream manufacturer, but you're going to pay a premium for this. They assume that anyone who would drop mega $$ on a diode from them knows how to properly treat them since they most likely have a college degree in the subject..)

SEE.. not everyone here is "too ignorant"..
