Hi Folks,

This is my first post in awhile attempting to reconnect with the forum, I've been out of touch with LPF for over a month & I'm only recently finding the time to get myself back into the swing of everything. My short story with my absence goes something like this...

Late last year my wife & I put our house up for sale with little hope of getting lucky because of the lousy real estate market/economy, ect. I thought it'd take all year for us to sell & had no inclination or push to start packing. To my surprise we sold it in early March & agreed to an expedited closing with our buyers to avoid losing money on the whole process. During this time I spent every spare moment looking for a new place to move into, and by the time our closing came around we had not bought a new place yet & had to move out. We were doing a double move (sucks) - there is no avoiding it. All my stuff went into storage & it was back to living in my parents' basement. After a month of living (squatting) with the Ps & continuing to search for a new house, we lucked out and found one. We really lucked out actually, we found a place being sold for almost 1/2 it's value with twice the square footage as our old house - luck and timing was everything. A few weeks ago we closed on the new place, we've been unpacking & settling in ever since - and today I mustered enough time to come back here to let you know I've missed you. Here's some pictures of how it was & how it is now

living at my parents place, here's where the rest of our stuff was stored that didn't fit into public storage...

Finally we're in our new place...... front view

All my stuff is out of storage now & ready for reassembly in the new place, very exciting! Also, I used to live across the street from the police department & using lasers outdoors was always a challenge. Now I live on the edge of a forest & using my lasers here so far has never been so worry free. My absence from this forum now is over, time to rebuild my lab in the new basement & get back to LASERS!

EDIT: Added some beamhots yesterday to let the neighbors know what they're in for. Sure enough I met one of them, had a few beers + a nice chat with him for about 15 minutes. At one point while we're talking he says to me 'you're going to like it here, there's not a lot of people and it's niiiiice and quiet'. I laughed out loud when the thought of my DJ soundsystem/parties crossed my mind - and replied 'well Tom, not anymore':beer:

Thanks guys, it was hard to be out of touch for that long since becoming as involved with this forum (online everyday, even when idle) as I've become. If it wasn't for occasionally checking 'new posts' I would have no idea about those badass 635nm mitsu diodes as well as the corrective optics, valued members disappearances/temp bans, ect, ect ;)

That's good, I'm not generally too active here but that usually depends on the project(s) I'm working on. I did notice your absence before TJ, I never said anything about not lurking heheh :eg: If you think the old basement is nice though man wait until you see the new one ;) YES that's an invitation to stop by when you're passing through the midwest.... I have plenty of room for it now

Holy crap, 12K? Ours are 10K a year with just under an acre of land & they were 7K at the old place because I lived across the street from the local village (PD, FD, public pool, ect). Are you on a lot of exotic land with taxes like that or are there more municipalities that you need? Pardon my asking but that seems heavy for owning a condo. I have no idea what's immediate around you or how it is over there but damn.....

Ah yes, and there's another reminder that I need to refill my dyslexia meds  I often see things that aren't always there... Pls forgive my misread, I thought 12k sounded criminally wrong with owning a condo

Ha no kidding. I plan on using one of these hopefully this summer once the video/RC can be controlled to work on a smartphone instead of just a standalone controller from the patio

Until then, my mower has a beer holder so I dont mind the yard work

Nice house! I hate moving, I just had to move my mom into assisted living last weekend, what a pain in the ass.
Now get back to lasers.
