I've narrowed the field in my quest for a blue laser. My budget is right at the 200 dollar mark and i've pretty much decided to go with olike. Please take a look at my choices below and let me know which one i'd be better off with. Thanks.

1. Real 1W 445nm blue Laser torch/waterproof/focusable [OL-1W-445] - $209.00 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

2. Tactical Real 1W 445nm Blue laser torch /waterproof /focusable [OL-445-T-1.0] - $189.00 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

3. S3 Arctic Series - 1,000 mW

#3 of course is the big daddy over at Wicked. I only included it as a comparison for the two above. DOn't really have any intention of purchasing this one.

One last thing...I saw that olike offers some pretty cheap 50mW blu-ray pen laser models. Is a purple dot the most I can expect from those or will there be a visible beam?

Thanks again for all the advice. I've been out of the laser scene for about 3 years...ever since my first purchase from NOVA back in '07. If NOVA offered blue...i'd probably be purchasing from them again...but olike seems to have a pretty good reputation from what i've readl. I'm looking forward to making a purchase soon.

I would honestly consider buying a 445 made by a member here, I think that you would save some $ and some shipping time that way, o-like will take 20+ days. Not hating on o-like at all, I feel that they are solid, but I have seen and purchased 1+ Watt 445 on here for under $150, check out the buy, sell & trade section. - Matt

Thanks Matt. Do I just go to that section and ask who makes them or do the builders advertise?

Just look around in the Buy Sell and Trade section, there are people who have single items up for sale and folks who make multiple lasers for the purpose of selling them. If you want a solid bet I think Garoq is still offering a 1-1.3 Watt 445 for less than $150 shipped, I have one that I bought second hand and it is very powerful, here's the link for that one and happy hunting! http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/1...laser-packages-only-139-shipped-us-63186.html

You should also consider the DragonLasers Spartan 1W if you want a factory made one. Pro's are very good build quality etc. Con's not focusable :(

You can read my review if you want :)

A 50mw blu-ray wont have a very visible beam at all unless it is very dark out/there is fog. The 405nm wavelength is hard to see for our eyes. I have a 70mw blu-ray build and the beam is faintly visible in the night sky.
