Anthol has mentioned this numerous times, that the manufacturer is not CHINESE but Japanese

 I've just searched through the whole thread - I didn't find a single word that starts with japan :D

Guangdong, China (Mainland)

Yes I was originally told japan but they're PayPal is in china , along with other info ive found ;) but they have good reviews and they're customer service is very quick, I get replies instantly from 8PM-6AM :)

I will be using this company and I will not rest until these have arrived to everyone safely and in copper :D

Wait, so this is a Chinese company, right? I bet that if we outsourced this to an AMERICAN or a CANADIAN company, we could get close to the same price for faster shipping and better customer service. We have a large enough quantity here that I am sure it will be very nearly the same price, and I certainly would pay 25% more to make sure it's copper, have it made in America/Canada, etc.
Ive put so much time and effort into this manufacturer, and I had the deadline I wanted so everything would be on time so for this particular GB I'm keeping this manufacturer, maybe if I make a round 2 eventually, i'll probably use a north American CNC ;)
But 15 days from china is quite fast actually, and for Canadian and US customers shipping will be extremely quick to you too :D

Yeah thanks for putting this together.

And +2 to Jerry (LaserBee) his advice is sound, you don't want to go through ALL this hassle, to find a decimal point has been dropped somewhere and we get .56mm modules
Lol Ive checked countless times :p it's 5.6 (5.53mm) exactly :)

@AnthoT do you already have a plan to test the purity of the copper we we'll be getting?

If not, a quick google search yielded this; The Handheld XRF Analyzer Gun | Scrap Metal Junkie. Apparently these XRF analysers are commonly used in scrap yards and the scrap metal industry in general. Other possibilities might include very precise conductivity or density measurements (though these will be difficult, probably not accurate and by no means conclusive!) or even thermal conductivity tests?

Im still reading about other options and will post these too if you need them?

Just curious, because (and as people have mentioned above) Chinese manufacturers don't always supply whats written on the label...:undecided:

Yes but these analyzers cost about 2k :(

I could cut one in half when I get them if that will tell us anything.:tinfoil:

It should at least let us know if it is plated or not.

You could measure the density of the material. It is all high-school stuff. Measure the weight and the volume and you can calculate the density. Compare it to pure copper or any known coppr alloy.

Yeah mentioned that above, but you'd need a microbalance and be able to calculate the change in volume very, very precisely. The result would also be dependent on the density of the other metals used in the alloy. If they have densities not far off copper it will prove difficult and inconclusive. Will have to check the densities of Ni, Sn, Be, Zn etc...if they use Al though, it shouldn't be a prob!

Just checked: Metals and Alloys - Densities and Ni for example is practically the same as copper!;)

Use these for measurements and place more than 1 piece at the time for more accuracy. It is simple and pretty accurate.

I think doing the measurement then the density d=m/v will give me the density and that could tell us or at least give us an idea of the copper used
Or like DTR said I'd cut it in half to check ;)

You'd probably need one more like this: DigiWeigh DWP-2004 Digital Laboratory Scales. This one goes to 4 decimal places ie 0.1 mg and if they used Ni you really would find it difficult.
For the volume too, I'd recommend some sort of burette (microburette) or capillary measurement.

Would be interesting to try though! Give it a go!
