I really don't know the proper name for it, but it's this thing I am referencing to.

He is working on having them in the black, plastic "lens nut", but it won't come with the silver "focus ring" that is attached to the nut in your picture.

Ah ok, is it possible to attach the lens nut to one of the focus rings? Because these focus rings are a nice touch.

The focus ring just screws onto the end of the nut. Some manufacturers apparently put a drop of glue in them, but they should just screw on and off as desired

Yeah, just for kicks and grins I just tried screwing off the focus ring on one of my <5mW modules and it came right off. ;D Thanks for the help!

Oh, so what is the time frame on these lenses? I see IgorT says 6 more 6x's togo until the GB, so what exactly does that mean? Does he mean selling 6 more of his 6x builds before he makes the purchase?

Yeah. He needs more cash on hand to make the GB work. It WILL happen. We just need to be a little more patient.

With 52 pages here, I think Igor should start a new thread for committed orders only, no BS. Real orders and wannabe buyers are spread everywhere over these pages.

It's not that kind of GB. He's going to get orders and order all of what everyone wants, and then that'll be the end of it. But my understanding is that everyone can order as they as they want, and the more we order, the better the price.

It'll be only 1 buy, but everyone can order as many as they want, unless something has changed that I'm not aware of.

Yes, when he finally gets his affairs in order (meaning money) so that he can get this going, he's going to order as many as he can get. This means that whatever he can afford (and he wants to buy as many as possible himself) plus whatever everyone else wants as this will likely be a one-time-only kind of thing. I talked to him about the prices a while ago and apparently getting like 500+ of them should give a good price in the originally expected range (well, before the cost of the custom mounted "nut", possibly).

I think we can hit that amount easily and I look forward to the possibility of the price if we go 1000+. Of course, at that amount, we're talking probably $20,000 to $30,000 worth of lenses, which is a HUGE amount of money. So this all will take a lot of careful planning on Igor's part, so please be patient. I hope that we can maintain the interest and get some great lenses for a killer price.... keep in mind that the closest lens to this that Thorlabs sells, costs $75 for the BARE lens!
