I see where you are coming from now, sorry about that. I'll need to rethink this...

Sooner or later, either the public has to learn about lasers or the laser hobby will disappear... obviously that could take some time and there are other options, but these two are the most likely. That said, I'd rather have the public learn than lose the hobby, I'm sure many would agree.

Why fly under the radar and draw less attention if this subject is going to come under scrutiny inevitably?

Also, we will see how this FDA "cracking down" panes out pretty soon... although I still don't like the idea that LG products cannot be shipped to the US

EDIT: actually that brings about several possible options... yes we have a bunch of WL noobs now, but that also means that WL can pretty quickly teach a large crowd... perhaps some persuasion and entice WL to at least make a FB post or something on the dangers of lasers?

I have >$1000 worth incoming, you guys will be the first to know what happens. I never get batteries with them, so we will see.

I guess I'm getting more pessimistic about the world. in spirit, I agree with you hwang. but I just can't envision it especially with the kind of media we have thesedays. I agree with Livinloud on this

Well I guess we have reason to wait... but if the FDA suddenly changes their interpretation of the regulations so that there's no way to get these lasers in, it'd be too late

Sometimes less is more and can WL look at a goose laying golden eggs?

i havent even read it and my initial thoughts are they wont give two shats......plus do you really want the FDA to know you own lasers? Not a smart move IMO, just giving them your name and oh guess what they are a govt entity and can pull ANY information on you that they want

You are aware this is a known public forum. I'm sure this is one of the sites they monitor.

Follow this link ?Non-lethal? lasers not always as specified
I'm sure you'll recognize this optics.org -

So don't worry yourself if they know you have a laser, because they probably do

Its nit illegal to own a laser. Idc if theu know I have one. You can own one and use it inside for photography without breaking a single law. My lasers haveny seen the outdoors in 4 months. I build them for personal use, enjoy them in my house and lock them back up.

Agree great idea but living loud is right I'm sure this web site is being monitored and well i like everyone else doesn't want to lose my lasers by actually putting my name to a piece of paper, we are currently an outlawed bunch remember with a passion not a lot share ...especially the media

Well all of us (in the US at least, I can't say about the other countries :undecided:) right now, unless we are currently importing or exporting non-FDA approved lasers, are not doing anything wrong...

Approved or not can anyone honestly say when they buy a laser from overseas or even domesticaly that they feel 100% they will get it ...it like saying do you feel comfortable about shining a high power green or blue into the sky at night, even when as always being careful, do you feel safe nobody is going to turn you in ....a little part of the thrill is the fact all my lasers are illegal and I'm saying stuff it to the law i know more than you do so get off my case on trying to take them away from me.I'm not an idiot pointing at planes I'm an enthusiast that has made it my great interest to know all i can about my hobby, without them being compared to a gun .....

I just feel that so much of the stuff being said here in this particular thread is true.

A lot of threads here serve as "reality checks" on lasers... a lot of very true threads and posts here on this Forum

Why lobby for change when you can start a US business, do the existing import paperwork, and sell product?
