I recently had the good fortune to work with SBA. He sent me his 3W Kryton build. Details of this excellent build can be seen here...
http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/sold-3w-9mm-polished-kryton-groove-82645.html
It has a 9mm 445nm diode driven by a blitzbuck driver putting out 2.4A.
I originally bought this for the history of the Kenom designed Kryton. It is one of the first hosts specifically designed as a laser host here at LPF, preceded by the Kryton Smooth iirc. I also thought 3W was a most impressive laser too
It wasn't until I actually received the laser (super fast shipping btw) that I really began to understand what an amazing and elegant design this is. It is such a beautiful host and so small to be putting out such impressive numbers.
Although I personally don't use it to often considering it is being overdriven, it doesn't heat up nearly as fast as a C6 host. This is really surprising considering I'm comparing a 3W to a 1.5W.
For such an impressive laser I had to come up with an appropriate name. So I chose Gram, the mythical sword of the Norse hero Sigurd...
Gram (mythology) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Forged from the pieces of his slain father's sword by the Master Smith Regin. To first test its power, Sigurd cleaves Regin's anvil in two.
Sigurd will ultimately use Gram to Slay the terrible Dragon Fafnir brother of Regin.
Instead of burning matches or popping balloons I decided to do something a bit different.
So for your enjoyment my fellow Laserists; Dragon's fire and Mythical Swords
Hope y'all like it
