I recently had the good fortune to work with SBA. He sent me his 3W Kryton build. Details of this excellent build can be seen here...
http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/sold-3w-9mm-polished-kryton-groove-82645.html

It has a 9mm 445nm diode driven by a blitzbuck driver putting out 2.4A.

I originally bought this for the history of the Kenom designed Kryton. It is one of the first hosts specifically designed as a laser host here at LPF, preceded by the Kryton Smooth iirc. I also thought 3W was a most impressive laser too :)

It wasn't until I actually received the laser (super fast shipping btw) that I really began to understand what an amazing and elegant design this is. It is such a beautiful host and so small to be putting out such impressive numbers.

Although I personally don't use it to often considering it is being overdriven, it doesn't heat up nearly as fast as a C6 host. This is really surprising considering I'm comparing a 3W to a 1.5W.

For such an impressive laser I had to come up with an appropriate name. So I chose Gram, the mythical sword of the Norse hero Sigurd...

Gram (mythology) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Forged from the pieces of his slain father's sword by the Master Smith Regin. To first test its power, Sigurd cleaves Regin's anvil in two.

Sigurd will ultimately use Gram to Slay the terrible Dragon Fafnir brother of Regin.

Instead of burning matches or popping balloons I decided to do something a bit different.

So for your enjoyment my fellow Laserists; Dragon's fire and Mythical Swords :D

Hope y'all like it ;)

Nuff said Kookapeli ;)

Thanks Grainde :D much appreciated. It's the thought that counts

:D Glad you liked the Dragon Gamefreak. It was a 7"x7" piece of flashpaper. It was a larger flame than I expected

SBA surely learnt a lot from the last $100 challenge didn't he.
Maybe I'll buy a laser from him some day lol

Great review !!
Dragon Origami is simply the icing on the cake .

It seems shiny hosts are all the rage these days.
I wonder when will we get a marble column host.

Lol, thanks Rock ;)

SBA is a pretty dedicated Laserist I must say :) I have a MS-SSW on the way too.

Hmmm... Marble host  You could be the first :D That would be cool.

Thank you, ever so much, LB! This is by far one of the most inventive and creative reviews I've seen yet.

LB is too modest to say, but he is the one who created the SBA Lasers logo. It's looks great, and I love how you added that to your videos! I may have to have you show me how to go about doing that.

I'm so glad you're happy with your laser, and I'm really impressed with your review!
Your MS-SSW will be to you in just a few days.

I like the way LB gives mythical names to his lasers.
What would the name of a knife edged 15W 445 would be.....

Cool review bro. Keep it up

Many thanks SBA! I'm looking forward to some 520nm Goodness :D

I have many arcane and mostly useless skills, just ask ;)

Much appreciated LaZeRz  did I misspell LaZeRz?

Thanks Leo, I do love Mythology. 15W knife edged 445? Wow! That would be an epic build. How about Argus, Jupiter, the Hydra, Typhon or the Drakon. :D

Nice review and video's Lazerbeak!

With this Kryton, and your other two new polished hosts, you've got one nice and shiny collection going on there!

BTW - Super job on SBA's Logo.

A +1 for you.

Thanks BowtieGuy! Much appreciated. I like how the logo turned out too. I'll be doing some more soon.

I have a MS-SSW to add to shiny collection too.

I'll have to get another LaserSaber w/Assault Knob though. I have a feeling it's going to another home

Time to get some diodes and drivers from DTR next month :)

Excellent! Can't help but wonder if it is a nod to yours truly though... After all, it was Sigurthr who wielded Gram to cleave Regin's anvil and then go on to slay Fafnir (Regin's brother).

Not sure where ya got "Wayland" from, hehe.

One day I may get a bloody leaf print tattoed on my shoulder to solidify my namesake's embodiment. XD
