Well, I finally got my 40mW 635nm diode up and running that I purchased on eBay a while back. I had Ehgemus make a nice host for me to keep this diode cool. Here's a picture below.
Since this diode was not meant to be a burner (IMO), I felt there was no need for focusing. Therefor, I had the lens housing inside of the build, with a cover over it. See below.
And as you can see, I chose the white powder coating to give this laser more uniqueness
I'm driving this thing at 100mA with an Aixiz driver and I'm using an Aixiz lens optimized for red lens. As far as output goes, it seems to vary for some odd reason. Yesterday when I metered it with my LPM, it was 39-40mW. Today, it's only hitting 30mW. You can clearly see a difference between this diode and what we're all used to seeing with our standard red builds.
All in all, I'm impressed with this build. The host is flawless (as always) and the color is indeed unique. I may attempt to obtain a more powerful 635nm sometime down the road, but for now this will suffice
Oh, and thanks again to everyone that answered my endless questions regarding this diode in the other thread. And especially thanks to Ehgemus & DTR for assisting me with this build. You guys rule
