Hmmm i may be interested... Also can you get pics of the beam into the night sky and a pic of how the dot looks?

Re: Yellow Pointer Project - Cool!

As far as beam in the night sky, I really don't want to mess with taking a picture of that. Because it is only 6 or 7mW's. It would require probably a 30 second exposure to get it...

If you want beam in the night sky, go for the 7 color build!: :)

You can get N size batteries from taking apart a standard 9v

Re: Yellow Pointer Project - Cool!

Are you sure about that??

I don't think that makes sense, because N size batteries are 1.5 volts ea. And the size is about 11.3mm X 29.4mm, so there is no way that even 3 of these can fit into a 9 volt battery...

You must be thinking about a different battery...

The ones this pen takes, are LR1. (or N size)

Re: Yellow Pointer Project - Cool!

Thanks for your posting and trying to help me with that though...

I did get some new batteries tonight, but they did not make the laser have anymore power than I got with the worn ones. Which measured only 1.41 volts ea.

This is actually good news! This means that the drivers in this little pen, are regulating the current very well... :)

Edit: I have a new 10440 battery mod for this build now as good option:

Re: Yellow Pointer Project - Cool!

:thanks:

Hey I just discovered a great modification for this build! Using a 'dichroic mirror' from a GGW sled. (thanks for identifying it HIMNL9)

I have a bunch of optics that came from various sleds and was experimenting to see if any would make the combined beam more yellow.

I found the perfect optic. I didn't know what it was until HIMNL9 identified it, but I knew what it does for this mod! It is from a GGW-H20L sled.

Here are the pictures...

I just glued it to the inside of my custom cap... Really cool!

I was thinking about possible reflection....

And I concluded that since the green is already passing through the turning mirror, before it reaches this 'dichroic mirror', there is very little chance of any reflection going to the green module.

Because it would hit the mirror side of the turning mirror, and not pass through much, if at all...

Anyway, as I mentioned, I did not know what the optic was for, only that I could not measure any loss on my meter for red, and only measured a 1mW loss for green. So it seems to be the perfect little 'helper' for giving more 'yellow' on the blend for this mod! :)

Edit: And this is the result!

hmmm which part of the sled did you take it from? i got lots of PHR sleds here (diodes extracted) hehehehe (jay dont forget my b-day gift! :p joke...)

Re: Yellow Pointer Project - Cool!

hey jay, I thought to use 10440/aa size 3.7 volts with spacer with diode in it so it is down the volt to 3v..
this is the main reason i didnt followed his tutorial. (batteries)

ofek.

You know what, it is from a GGW-H20L sled... Not a PHR. I just checked it out to verify.

I updated the post that I showed about the little coated flat glass lens, with pictures of a GGW sled, and the exact location of the optic.

So there's a free gift for you! :)

Not sure what you are saying?? You mean you didn't like the stock batteries for this unit?

I think what he is saying is he would like it better if he could use a rechargable 3.7 aaa and a silicone diode to drop it down to 3v's. Then you
wouldn't have to buy new batteries all the time. You could also use different diodes and get the voltage where you need it to be to get a nice yellow. I think somebody mentioned it in rogs original thread.

Nice job BTW!

Re: Yellow Pointer Project - Cool!

Oh I see... thanks for explaining that.

Not a bad idea for experimenting with... But so far I really think that the current set up works very well. The batteries seem very good for this little pointer. And the drivers are regulating well, giving a very stable output.

Surprised! :)

Edit: I just did a nice 10440 battery mod for this build:

Re: Yellow Pointer Project - Cool!

Looking for someone to build one of JAYROBS YELLOW LASER PROJECTS. I'll provide all parts, I just need someone to assemble it for me. If you can do this for me, PLEASE PM me with a price. I can't do this myself 'cause the medications that I have to take, cause my hands to shake WAY TOO MUCH, & this requires a STEADY HAND. If you have those steady hands, PM me, PLEASE. THANKS....................rob
