Default Re: Tutorial - My 'Pocket Pal' Blu-ray Laser!

Hey I must say, that although this host is fine, I showed it over a year ago. And since then, I have much better kits available. Such as the Pocket Mini, and my new Key Chain CR2 host. (links are in my signature)

Welcome to LPF!

Yes, the PHR is probably the most popular blu-ray diode...

Still the most power for the price. If your new to building lasers, then I recommend that you buy the diode pre-installed into an AixiZ module. Check if Daedal sells them thay way. If not, you can go to modwerx.com...

If you have not bought this host yet (DX sku 46), then you may want to check out some of my other (more recent) kits here:

You sell this? How much? ...also, "pocketpal" sounds a bit like something you wouldn't want coming up in everyday convorsation...

I only sell the heatsink for this build, not the host... (specifically for a DX sku 46 host)

My tutorial is a for a FlexDrive build using 3 X standard AAA batteries. (4.5 volts)

But after I came out with my smaller and nicer Pocket Mini kit, these Pocket Pal heatsink sales dropped off a lot:

For the PHR-803T blu-ray laser diode in focusing module - $18.99 : Modwerx Shop do I still need the flex and 6 silcon diodes?

If you are following this tutorial (first post), then yes, you will need a FlexDrive...

You will need to understand how to properly set a FlexDrive with a test load. The driver can get damaged if you power it without a load.

There are current 'ranges' to set first. See the diagrams in the documentation:
http://hacylon.case.edu/ebay/laser_d..._V5_manual.pdf

This write up is a great guide for setting current with a test load: (he shows a DDL driver, but it is the exact same procedure for a FlexDrive)
It can be done - Laser driver
