hello i want to build a 1 watt 445nm laser and i have done some research and i slected some parts that i think are okay but i am not shure so i would love it if someone could check if i can use these parts together and if i can what kind of battery's i should use :D here is a list with links to all the parts -

Focusable Housing - 1pc 16x55mm Focusable Housing w Glass Lens 200 1100nm for 5 6mm Laser Diode | eBay
laser diode - 1W 1000mW Laser Diode Blue 445nm to 18 5 6mm | eBay
laser driver - 6V 14V 445nm 520nm 1W 2W 3W Blue Laser Diode Drive Driver Board Constant Current | eBay
switch - 1pcs 12V 20A Car Auto Cover LED Light SPST Toggle Rocker Switch Control on Off | eBay

thank you very much :thanks:

Hello tj2000, welcome to the forums!

First off, are you trying to put it in a host, or just a labby style circuit?

If you are going to build it into a host, I would recommend the JAD or "just add diode" kit from survival lasers. This takes care of the driver, heatsink, and host. All you need to do is put a diode into a 12mm module, then solder the driver leads to the pins. super easy:yh:

If you are not going to put it into a host, I would get a different module and driver...
Just to keep it simple, I would use a 12mm module

Also, I would strongly recommend getting a heatsink for that!

As for the driver, it depends on the diode you use. It is helpful to choose a diode that someone has tested, like the A-140. If you scroll to the bottom of DTR's page, you can see his test for the diode. This helps you choose a current you want to run your diode at.

Seriously though, there is barely any experience with the diode you linked (that I know of). So, I would switch to the A-140. Abarnett sells them for $15 each, which is CRAZY cheap!

So, say you switch to the A-140. Knowing that you want to have 1 watt of power, I would run the diode at 1.25A. This gives you a little above 1 watt.

As for the switch, I like it:)

But it's all up to you. Thats the fun of building a laser yourself:)
Hope I helped!

I don't know how he does it, but that diy c6 assembly is only $30 :bowdown: That's an insane price for a JAD kit!!! I would recommend 100%

Hi,
Yes indeed go with one of Gary's host kits from his shop , i have many and all are worth every penny at a great price and he's right here in the states , no Chinese stuff here just all quality material in his items. one stop shopping i say Host ,drivers ,lens, contact boards heat sinks in a variety of options . You will never be disappointed when you purchase any one of these for your 1W build.

Rich:)

I appreciate that Rich. Just to clarify, some of our components are sourced in China as well as the US, but all orders are shipped from southern Utah. ;)

hi Gary,
i kinda knew that but at least you know that these component will work without guessing . Still in all your store carries the best go to building materials around . And the customer service is outstanding as usual . You stand behind all your items..

rich:)

Absolutely. Plus, all components are made to our specifications and tested before shipment.

Hello evryone yhank you very much for your reply's i succeded in building my laser it only is not portable yet when im on my computer ill try to post a video and some pictures
