Default Driver, Diode, Everything -_-

Hey guys,

So I bought a 405nm diode: 405nm 150mw burning blu-ray laser diode. USA 3 day Ship - eBay (item 270543228600 end time Jan-01-11 22:15:44 PST)

and I am going to buy a driver: New 405nm 100-300mw Laser Diode Driver 2.7-3.7V Reverse - eBay (item 220700437343 end time Dec-22-10 05:26:46 PST)

Oh, Ummm In the driver I stated, why are there two LD - outputs on one side? should I just use one?

In almost in every case there are no stupid questions
You can hook the supply negative lead to the grounded pin on the laser diode,
this will ground your driver negative input contact to the ground terminal of
the battery throught the Aixiz module/heatsink/host case.
hook the driver positive input to the contact for the battery carrier.
hope this helps...

[QUOTE=warriorx15;832353Also I know this is a really stupid question but I'm a noob so bear with me please. Ok. So I don't understand the concept of a driver board with the power source. So if I have my diode inside an aixiz module and a driver hooked up to it, how does the battery like get attached to the driver in the host? If there is no spring attached to the driver in the first place, I'd solder the wires (+ and -) to the driver and then where do the wires go? Do the get soldered to the inside of the aixiz module or the outside or the sides of the host?[/QUOTE]

Wait I think I see now but just to make sure... :P

Ok. So hook the negative wire soldered to the south side of the driver to the useless third pin on the diode and just make the positive wire touches the positive end of the battery?

Thanks!

Here, this might help ya.

See in my sig, there's a link that says the Build Guide? Click it for one of the most comprehensive guides on LPF.

That should answer most, if not all of your questions.

Got anything else to ask? Feel free to ask here.

Hey, Thanks, I know about this guide but it didn't really give me the answers I needed. Anyone else know about the very first questions I asked on the first post??

and it says 2.7-3.7 volts. The host I have can only support 4.5 volts (3 * AAA) and I was wondering if I used this driver and diode with 3 AAA batteries, would the diode or driver board get fried or something?
Not sure. I was looking at the driver and they say 2.7V--3.7V in one place. Then they say 2.7V-3.0V in another. Then they go on to say you could use a Li battery such as 16430,18650,14500 and 18500 to power it. But when fully charged, those batteries carry a voltage of ~4.2V.

I just checked Greg's site and I clicked on Laser HOST, KITS, & HEATSINKS ! but the only thing that comes up is some $10 add-on option to the blue M hosts. There is a small pic of a Dorcy Jr, is that it?

Well, if it's the Hotlights host, this tutorial from DTR should answer all of your questions.
