Hey guys ! Well after weeks of ordering parts, waiting for shipping, doing a TON of research I have FINALLY completed my very first laser !
It's a LCC diode (which I thought I completely ruined because the can was dented X_X) that's ~390mA (?).

I would like to know what you think of it !

Here are the results !

what kind of batterys does it use?
It uses a 9V right now .. In a day or two I'll change it out to be something more suitable.

show us the inside
Believe me you don't want to see the inside ! hahaha. Maybe I'll post more once I clean it up but I finished this around 3am so I was kind of tired when I finished.

Yes I actually modified it into a much smaller project box .
And unfortunately I do not have a heatsink even though I know I should...
I just self regulate it to only be on for a couple seconds but like I said before this was completely unexpected because i actually damaged the side can. I didn't expect it to turn on but it actually works pretty well.
And yes I also was going to use the AA technique but it was 3am, I had a 9v and wasn't willing to drive to a 24/7 Wal Mart to pick up supplies so I just worked in what I had on hand haha.
I do like the much smaller host though. Fits well in the palm of your hand and is still very bright !

I also finished my first blu ray ! which to me was much more of an accomplishment haha

Nice build! That's pretty cool, I have to admit. I'm more of a pointer guy myself but that's very neat!

Off Topic: Hey your location of HB, it doesn't happen to be Huntington Beach does it?

That is PREMIUM compared to my first build :D
Nice job!
If you want a neat batteries for LM317 driver (presumably that is yours yes?), you can use two lithium ion cells, when fully charged they give you 8.4 V (4.2x volts on each) so you can try to pack it inside a 2x AA flashlight, using 2x 14500 batteries.

Yes this is what I was going to do before was incorporate 2x 14500's in there but I couldn't find a store around here that sold them so I would have to order online and I just didn't have the patience to wait a week for a pair of batteries haha.

Depending where you live, you are generally VERY LUCKY if you wait ONLY a week. I'm usually around 2 and a half weeks. For such reasons, I totaly reccomend this:
modwerx.com
I don't know if you know for that site. It charges a lil'bit more of shipping, but it definetly arrived fast for me! It's owned is Andrew, also a member of this forum. Very nice guy, just ask him if you need something!
Other than that, you can order from
High Tech DealZ, Simplifying the LASER Hobby!,
has free shipping, owner (you guessed it)is a member here also.

The rest is just standard, dealextreme, focalprice,
and a site I recently stumbled upon:
www.dinodirect.com
It seems to pack enormous amounts of lasers, and also like any other site of this caliber, free shipping.

Take your pick! :D

Thanks for all of the information Eudaimonium ! I've been looking for some good semi-local online stores but even when I found them I was curious of their reputation. I was actually looking at building a greenie for my next project but i don't know what module to get. I was looking at the 200mW DX module since it'y only around 40$ but I was also looking at the O-Like 200mW module but it's 135$ which is quiet a bit more. Any suggestions ?

If you want a green laser, go for the 32$ 40~50 mW O-LIKE.
I have a 50 mW green laser I bought, just because I wanted one, and I'm thrilled ! 50mW of green light is apsolutely stunning at night!
Just enough power to make the laser visible so , that it attracs attention of everyone nearby. It is 3 to 4 times more visibly brighter than my red lasers!
Whoever I show my red and green laser, everyone says: OO green laser is really awsome. The red usually remains uncommented :D
