Default Lpc836 ?

This is perhaps not as thrilling amidst the exciting news about Mitsubishi 300mW 635s, but has anyone played around with the LPC-836 reds yet?

They're claimed to be capable of 50mW more than an LPC-826:

Well, from Laser-XH perhaps - but there should be other sources (or sites that will buy from them and sell on a smaller basis)

Default Re: Lpc836 ?

If they are the same series they should have much better beam specs compared to the 300mw 635s.

They would be great for some applications. I wonder how much more expensive they will be?

I mean if you can get about 250mw with an LPC-815 and maybe 300mw with an LPC-826.

Cost is about $7 for the 815 and 10-15 for LPC-826.

If they are $25-30 each they aren't worth it in a cost/mw comparison unless you REALLY need just a little more power for a projector or something.

If they are similarly priced to the 826 that would be great.

Yeah, that's actually not bad. I am sure some of the bigger sellers here like DTR, Greg, and others will purchase some of these in quantity and start selling for just a bit over the per unit price they got.

hmm I just contacted them and for 200pcs little box they want $7.5 a piece...

the guy/girl I don't really know said that this is promotional price, otherwise is $10.5 a piece...

the power rating is 380mW at 660nm..,.

I asked them for a datasheet but they either didn't see it or don't have any

I think half the fun is just the anticipation of finding out what these diodes really are.

Default Re: Lpc836 ?

Correct me if i am wrong..
heres what i posted earlier.. on a resembling thread which i would like to simplify their differences, here ...Hotlight LPC-826...550mA....380mW
I have been experimenting with GSA-H55N sleds, they are by far the best ones that can be extracted from the DVD's, It is a mitsubi$hi diode AFAIK LPC-815.. I have One running at 400mA, Other ones at 480mA, and 600mA..
I made the 600mA one in the Copper-core cpu heatsink just a couple of days ago and it has an amazing beam with just a regular acrylic lens..4 Minutes in the run time and the copper core temperature increase from 70F(ambient) to 80F.

Now, I heard last year some Polish members of our forum were running them at 600mA too and they worked nice and strong when properly heatsinked , and upto 750mA they tend to live but for a short time..

Other ones LPC-826's which are a "tiny bit" more efficient with optical output of not more than 20~25mW than LPC-815's on the average.. Which is not much when you compare the beams & burning power.. but on the LPM side the LPC-826 wins by 20~25mW's.
Since the LPC-826's tend to live for a short period at 550mA so rather kept safe at 420mA like LPC-815's, and LPC-815's for longer period at 600mA with "same" Optical Output, I think there is a general misunderstanding of these and practically there is "NO" difference but the only difference there is , is Technically/Theoretically..

And LPC-836's are definitely not as much powerful too
LPC-836 Some Results..., SO, More or less they all are same, The only difference which could be possible is because of LPC-826's being new and unused hence efficient "a tiny bit more"
LPC-836's just a new market name with no serious improvements.
We can say 400mW red is here ..but running them at 650mA as im doing is simply an overkill..

Yeah, if you run an LPC-815 at more than 420, you could be shortening its life...

Sorry dude, no LPM yet.. my readings are based on LPM Results posted in the threads which i mentioned earlier, giver or take 5-10mW eitherway the Po.VS.mA Chart would give a same curve.. Im just playing with the current(mA's)

Yes sir, It does die but lives bright aswell.. such a pity it has to die!! lets see when mine goes led.. a total of 1 hour~1h.15min used uptill now.. Still alive and kicking..

No worries, unless it is heatsinked and used for 1min on 30s off DCy..
I use mine for 3~4minutes @600mA but offcourse the heatsink i'm using is an overkill even at that current..

Kind of refreshing actually. I like the "live hard, die young" attitude.

So, some time has passed... The LPC-836 has been out for a while now and can be found in expensively on eBay.

Is there a consensus on which is the better diode?

LPC-815
LPC-826
LPC-836

Any general thoughts?

Actually, any one of these three would give you ~300mW at 425-450mA ,
lpc-826 would be the better choice because it is more efficient +25mW than 815 at same current! but if u use the 815 at 460mA it would be ok aswell...
