If I were looking for a 12 watt ~800nm FAP laser diode assembly, I wouldn't have a problem paying this price, not compared to what a new one costs. The current needed for full output is good on this one, only question I would have is if all of the fibers were good, i.e. no dark fibers. Get that guarantee from the seller and I think this is a good price, since he measured the output. I've purchased from this seller many times, if something was wrong, he always made good on it.

One nice thing about the 12 watt modules, you don't need as much heat sinking compared to the 50W ones and the 2 VDC current required is much easier to come up with.

I'd imagine making all of those units in working order might be a labor of love, but depending on how much the lot sells for it could be a money maker.. especially for some of the more skilled members. The hosts alone could be sold for a decent amount, but all depends on the final price and overall condition of the hosts/parts. I'd like to have the torch host and put my own HID in there.

I'd pay around $50 for an spyder/evo host if it was in good shape, and build my own from scratch. I don't know how they put their lasers together and if the hosts could even be used, but reading the description, some turn on but not lase and some are just parts.

It might be worth while to ask about that, you may get a good deal, and I'm pretty sure most of those hosts could be sold here to members wanting to build their own.
Many people have liked their hosts, but not their products or prices.

I'd be in for a few hosts myself, nano & evo most likely, and maybe a set of caps also. :D

@ Calikirk - Good find!

This is almost certainly a low power 473nm unit (seller claims around 480nm) but I cannot find any info on who made this laser and what the original output was claimed to be.
DPSSL Power Supply with BBT 10 Blue Laser Head | eBay

I would buy it just out of curiosity in case it something cool, but I really shouldn't be spending money. At the very minimum this thing is probably chocked full of parts and would be useful for DPSS projects. I better message bloompyle. :D

I saw that too. I messaged the seller (you can see it on Q&A :D) and he said he got it for fluorescein angiography. Peak dye absorption is around 490nm but it looks like 473nm or maybe even 445nm would still work for his application, so it wouldn't have to be 480nm for what he used it for.

I was looking at bidding myself, but if someone more experienced with DPSS would like it, I'll hold off. Since I don't have much experience with DPSS I'll probably hold off anyways.

EDIT: I wonder if the seller bought it second hand, because he doesn't know the manufacturer at all and isn't positive on wavelength or power.

Double EDIT: Well I asked him to look at it better, so he took off the outer cover of the head and uploaded some new pics.

This might be a good deal for someone very close and with a proper power supply that they could use to test it before buying it (I guess for a quick test an Oudin coil or similar might work).
Its a Siemens LGK-7626 HeHe rated at 25mW, IDK if it has internal of external mirrors.

Ah man if I had the cash right now I'd snatch that up!

I know seriously!! I don't know how WL puts their lasers together but unless they do an all glue treatment, then whoever buys that lot should have alot of nice hosts that they could build/sale, and if the e bay seller really doesn't know anything about lasers and some end up with minor problems then you could score!

From what I could gather from the listing, it looks like they are rejects from Wicked Lasers and are probably not simple problems. Since they are all builds, they may or may not be usable. It would be a gamble, and it is not at a give away price, either.

I was looking at it as a more of buying them for hosts. I'm not sure I'd like to repair to many of those but I think all of those hosts are still worth something. I'd buy it and sell the nanos for like $25-$30 a piece just as hosts.

If you believe it is a money maker, go for it. They are described as not guaranteed to be without flaws and are sold as is. It's difficult to say what scratches and marks might be on them from what I could see, but if you see money, then you should do it.
