PLP520-B1 Stainless pen build 210mw

Hi guys
I had 2 small stainless hosts, I decided to add the tube from one and make a longer pen build,
The host was very dull so I polished it up piece by piece and now looks nice.

I started off intending to use a 9mm diode so I had a spare copper Extended and Tapered Heat Sink from survival laser, so I chucked it on my drill press and slowly worked it down with a file and sandpaper untill it was perfect tight fit for the head of my host.

The reason for the extension tube was so I could use 2 14500 bats but I then decided to use the PLP520-B1 attached to 480ma boost driver in module from Jordan.

All that was left to do is attach a contact board to an aluminium sleeve for the battery contact and solder the wires.

I've run out of 2 element lens for 520 so with a G2 there is artifacts around the dot as you can see in the beam pics but the spot at 6 meters is as small as a single mode diode, impressive I might throw an acrilc lens in later.

So my LPM shows 210mw and is very stable, this diode gets warm quick so it's great that I used copper for a sink.

Nice selection of host and diode, beam shots as well. Hey were did you get that host from they look very sleek and the CU sink is a great touch..

That PLP520-B1 is a good choice for that host IMO.

Really nice BBB, as like others said that host is a nice match for that 520.
Curious why all that work to bring down that SL upgraded tapered host to
fit and I see it was an extra but it looks like it was alot of work to bring it to size or is the pic just making
it look that way?:beer:

Yes it was a bit of work butt I don't really like the shape of them tappered modules anyway and I was going to use a 9mm in the beginning, thanks mate!
 
Outstanding. I ended up making my all copper sinner hosts that had an outside coupling to a double length unit with an inside copper piece so it looks seamless instead of keeping it as a convertable. It's the one here:

Looks so much nicer now and I can always do low output mode with a battery spacer if I want.
Anyways yours looks very slick. Reminds me of ones that if I were going to sell some it would be one I would keep.

You are building too many for me to keep up for repping. Nice to see a few members that really deserve the rep.
I did actually build a unit today or rather repaired one. That Osirus I bought from Styro blew it's driver the second time I turned it on so I replaced it with a 2.4A SXD and rebuilt the guts too. Shined that sucker up really well. It has a standard 9mm in it and its a very strong diode so I didn't change it to something else as it outputs over 3.5W at that 2.4A.
Did I mention I really like this (your) build:)

Great job! Smart choice to add up the two hosts, and that heatsink looks like it will hold that diode very nicely ;)
