I thought this could be an interesting (and colorful) thread to keep updated. The idea is to track current diode laser wavelengths.

My proposed guidelines:
- Only visible wavelengths from 390 to 750, and only pure diodes, not DPSS.
- Cite sources unless it's a common wavelength
- Package type (9mm, 5.6mm, C-Mount, etc) isn't important, but something clearly outside the realm of portability doesn't count.
- If wavelength is given as a range, take the midpoint, and if that gives a .5, round up.
- Differentiate between (C) common OR cheap, (E) exists but impractical or costly, and (R) rumoured or anounced.
- If a particular wavelength has more than one entry, in different (C,E,R) letter categories, the most favorable letter will be indicated (C>E>R)

I'll give this a start:
375 nm - (E) - Nichia NDU1113E / NDU7216E
405 nm - (C) - Multiple manufacturers, Sanyo, Mitsubishi, Nichia, etc
415 nm - (E) - Roithner RLT415-200PMG
440-460 nm - (C) - Nichia, OSRAM, Opnext
473 nm - (E) - Nichia NDHA210APAE1 (likely same as Thorlabs L473P020MLD)
488 nm - (E) - Nichia NDB7352 (likely same as Thorlabs L488P060MLD
505-525 nm - (E) - Nichia, OSRAM Announcement
523 nm - (R) - Soraa Announcement
531 nm - (R) - Sumitomo Announcement (2009)
622 nm - (E) - LDX Optronics LDX-2106-622
635-685 nm - (C) - Multiple manufacturers, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Sanyo, Opnext, Eudyna etc

It will sure be nice to see some of those Rs become Es, and Es become Cs :)
Lets keep this updated as news pops up!

Or the Rs to be come Cs ;)

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

Holy crap we just posted that at the same time.

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

Of course - I suppose those count as common?

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

I would say common now. But once there gone there going to be rare.

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

I imagine inside the various diode manufactures R&D departments, the 'E' list would probably be quite considerable.

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

(C) is going to be "Common OR Cheap" now.

These category definitions may need tweaking as we think about this more, but I want to keep it simple.

The basic idea is to separate the "vapor" (rumours) from "dreams" (super expensive, or not really available to any of us) from "available" (stuff members here actually have access to)

For sure - but until it gets announced as being a potential release product, it wouldn't end up on this list (that's my take at least)

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

As of Right now i would say (C) Aswell.

But I would have to say (E) Once there gone From that ebay Seller.

Would it be possible to change it to (E) in the future?:)

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to rhd again."

Yes.... but that is sort of missing the spirit of what I was trying to use as division criteria. I basically wanted:

( C ) - Mere mortals can actually own this wavelength
( E ) - Exists. Commercially available. Actually being produced and sold to some commercial extent. But insanely expensive, or only available in bulk, or for some reason NOT a diode that we can realistically get access to around here.
( A ) - We've heard talk, rumours, announcements, but there's nowhere to actually source them commercially yet.

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

You can just C&P aryntha´s signature :p

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

It has to be affordable dj! Haha

Re: List of Visible Wavelength - Laser Diodes

I know there are some 622nm and 627nm laser diodes.
They operate at ~5 degrees Celsius, though.
