Hello, I got a 589nm laser this month and was finaly able to do a LPM test.
I build the LPM myself unsing a TLV314 OpAmp and a small, 6 x 6mm TEC.
To calibrate the LPM I used my 1W Spartan. This did not work as planned because it seems that a 1W diode laser isn't necessary 1W (like I expected).
Instead I used a 300mW green DPSS and checked it with another 85mW green DPSS. More information in this thread here:
http://laserpointerforums.com/f40/lpm-test-spartan-50mw-589nm-97535.html#post1423939

The laser was powered by an Agilent 6632B power supply and drawing 1,63A during the whole test.
After a recalibration it hope this is (hopefully :D) the actual power. There did not change a lot but it seems to be pretty in spec.
I really like the laser and happy I got one :).

Hm... It seems like barely reaches 50mW, no? That's what I see from your graph.

Mine tends to drop in power quickly right after you reach the 1min duty cycle. I mean it drops like a rock! From 40mW to 10mW in a matter of seconds.

On the other hand, I'm getting my 637 Spartan today! :D

I'm totally confused on how you can calibrate with your 1W Spartan. How do you know your Spartan is exactly 1W?

I was kind of wondering about that myself. A 5% variation in the output of your 1W Spartan, and your 50mW output reading on the 589nm could be 100mW!

well there you guys go again using that pesky logic thing. lol:D He probably had a LPM graph from DL for the 1W I would hope.

Well, it says 1000mW. It is a diode laser which should be really stable and easy to set to exactly 1000mW. So I set it to 1000mW.
I looked on youtube and saw that most 1W Spartans are above 1000mW with about 1100mW. I have two lasers here which have been tested before I got them.
Well I only used the 1W blue.
I hooked up a 300mW and 85mW green DPSS.
The 300mW is from offroadfreak8582, it is exactly this one:

So I set my LPM to match the data out of the video and tested the 85mW green DPSS. A measurement of the 85mW green looks now how it should look like. I did another test with the 589nm too.
It seems a bit better now with a peak at 73mW. I'll update the pictures in the first post.

Thanks for the hint!

Well I will say that if nothing else you are in the general range. Off the top of my head 1.1W sounds about right for the famous Spartan. It was cetainly a big deal back when I bought mine.
