Sorry, that was a bit harsh.

Anyway, 808nm is not a good source of illumination. Since it's infrared, it's invisible to the naked eye.

My 5mW pointer is <5000mW as well. Do you mean >5000mW?

Is this laser portable?

Some photos would be great. And what you mean saying < 5000mW ? This means that it can be 50mW too. You must be specific. What is stable power?

Greetings,

I love that host and looks like a you did a hellava good job !
The one I have will only max out at almost 2.5w, but the runtime is awsome and very stable.
I did not know you could use a filter on the LPM. I only have a Laserbee 2w and it would be nice to be able to get a reading and then use some math to figure the actual output. I know the heat coating on the thermopile is only rated for so much and would also make me feel a little better knowing I am not damaging that.
I would also use the Panasonic 3100mah 18650's. Lasts for a very long time when using 3 batteries and not too bad when just one is used.
I am sure that will sell fast as it is an awsome laser !
Just a little envious of whomever the buyer is....

Yes the laser is a 5000 mw 808nm ir laser. I used it for night vision illumination to not give myself away. can see in dark using cheap cell phone camera lol. It will set a piece of wood in flames, or light candle. It is the size of a flashlight. about ten inches long. I also burn name into laminate surface with ease. Some might want to use it to pump crystals. If you not interested in trade, I will look to future and have you make me custom laser. thanks

The runtime of the Big Boy laser is much higher than the recommended 1 min on/off.
It will automatically shut-off the power when the driver is overheating to prevented damage. After cooled down the laser works again. I have tested the driver on the test-load during the build.

The filters block 29% of the beam so that only 71% hits the LPM !
The number on the LPM must be multiplied by 1.41 for the actual power.

Too bad I have already purchase the 80mW 473nm few weeks ago. I would have considered a trade.
