This board is now "moderated."

That means that thread starters must be "approved" by a member of the admin team

In order to start a thread, the member must now have 20 **laser related** posts and have a "positive" reputation (green squares).

Posts in the "Welcome" board and the "Off-Topic" board do not count

SPAMMING the boards with short, non-content related posts to reach 20 may lead to a ban

Anyone may reply to a thread already approved

NEW posters SHOULD read the sticky at the link below to see what your potential buyers are going to be looking for in your "For Sale" thread
Six Steps to Prevent You from Getting Scammed

Peace,
dave

**EDIT** --

There were LONG and complex discussions before this rule was put into effect.
Just because a new member was not here for that discussion does NOT give the new member the right to question the rule or ask to have it explained to them individually or to be allowed an exemption
The rule is in place
Live with it

Re: CHANGES to the Buy/Sell/Trade Board

So we have to P.M. a Mod before we can start a new thread in the B,S,T section?

Oh and thanks Dave!

Re: CHANGES to the Buy/Sell/Trade Board

Good action. That will take the spammers out.

About the approvement, does it mean that the seller must contact a member of the admin team before the advertisement is placed ? Or that the seller is automatically "approved" if he/she thinks has enough posts ?

When someone tries to start a thread, the forum will let them build the thread (and hit "post")

However, it will not be displayed until a member of the admin team "approves" it

C0ldshadow has it set up so that all of the members of the admin team get an email when someone tries to start a thread

We think that this will get timely approval of qualifying threads

There will sometimes be a delay between when the poster hit "post" and when a mod logs on to approve the thread

Peace,
dave

Cool, thanks for the info.

Re: CHANGES to the Buy/Sell/Trade Board

You need someone from Europe as a BST mod to fill the time delay when someone starting a thread from this area here

Great work, and it's also organized in a practical way

We agree.
We have been looking and talking to a few members
Do you (or anyone else) have any members you would recommend as a moderator?
We would prefer that the new moderator NOT be limited to only this board though ;)

Peace,
dave

Re: CHANGES to the Buy/Sell/Trade Board

To lighten the load on the mods, would it be possible to have the
board setup so vet's can enter their 'vet' password where there is
no need for approval?

could be a good idea

Password protection seems to be an all-or-nothing switch

I believe that we are only looking at (at most) a few hours delay anyway

You can look to see how quickly we usually get to spammers to see that one of the mods is here most of the time

Peace,
dave

yep, but I'm sure that a member who has the "vet" password has also 20 **laser related** posts ;)

Re: CHANGES to the Buy/Sell/Trade Board

Thanks Dave and Avery. These are some good changes!

I would however like to add a suggestion.

Is it possible to maybe elect "trade" moderators who deal specifically with the BST section? This could drastically help the existing board moderators.

Edit: This could also prove helpful in any other sub section in the future should we ever need to elect more moderators to help moderate the board.

I was thinking this myself, you mods must have your hands full as LPF keep on gaining more members.

Out of all the people on the forum I think Trevor would make a good moderator, though he probably doesn't have the time.

Re: CHANGES to the Buy/Sell/Trade Board

Good move, it'll definitely cut down on the amnt of useless threads in that section. AFAIK in previous versions of vBulletin that I've run, you could have usergroups that could bypass the moderation... and all that would require would be to add the 'vets' to a new/existing usergroup and just change the privileges.
