Re: FS: 1.9W 445nm Maglite 2C Laser!

Sparkles,
How do you know you are getting 1.9W?

I had all of the lasers I had made metered on the 19th with a Kenometer PRO. Two of them peaked 2W, others were in the 1.9-1.8W range.

This is one of the ones that were metered that day.

It looks like you have been incredible lucky with the diode efficiency in the whole batch.
Having them survive a 80 min runtime is incredible too.

How do you do that?

I don't understand. These diodes are supposed to have a lifetime of over 1000 hours I thought. 80 minutes is paltry in comparison. If you meant they will run for a total of 80 minutes before needing a recharge, that has to do with the battery life, not the diodes.

Re: FS: 1.9W 445nm Maglite 2C Laser!

This laser includes the following features:
Black Maglite 2C host. As always, it is a side clicky on/off with the ability to do momentary on.

Dr. Lava's premier FlexMod P3 driver set to 1.8A. It is intended for labbies, so it is ultra high quality with diode saving features built into it.

2x18650 Sanyo Li-Ion 2400 maH batteries. This means the laser has 1 hour and 20 minutes of total run time before needing to recharge. Sanyo has the best batteries and reputation for Li-Ion batteries.

XJ-A140 diode, not the 130 diode.

Glow In The Dark dustcap. Its important to keep dust off the glass lens for a better beam.

Worlds smallest Li-ion charger: Cottenpickers Chargers. Provides TRUE CC/CV charge profile and non-trickle termination of charge to extend the life of the battery and keep the capacity high. It plugs into any USB port so you can bring the laser/charger with you where ever you go. Just need a computer.

MASSIVE aluminum heatsink.. HUGE!

Aixiz 445 lens. I prefer the lower cost and better beam profile of these lens.

I used Arctic Silver 5 to remove any possible air gaps on where the diode/module meet, the module/heatsink meet, and where the driver transistor/heatsink meet. Diodes hate heat build up, so I do to! Its worth the extra time to painstakingly apply thermal compound to the critical areas.

Just had one of my customers LPM a few of the lasers. Two of them Peaked 2W!

The laser with everything included is $270 shipped (48 states) and is putting out 1.8W-2W. Everything is included except glasses. You DO need glasses and must purchase them separately.

TERMS AND AGREEMENT-
You are over 18 years of age.
- You understand that the laser and laser components that are mentioned above are dangerous when not properly assembled into a finished product.
- You will use the laser and components as an OEM product and properly incorporate them into a finished product.

I really think you should have studied the subject a bit more before trying to make a business out of it. Particularly if you want to make it a regular business?

(The stated diode life on datasheets is with correct current and cooling, it drops off really sharply if conditions are not met.)

I just recieved this PM from Jayrob and have permission to quote him:

[quote from Jay]
We had a conversation and I told him that I did not think it was cool to copy. A similar conversation that you and I had...

Only he did not care the same as you did. Not everybody has respect for others.

Your have more manhood in your pinky finger than he will ever amount to.

There is nothing that I can do about it. Which is why I chose not to start any drama about it.

I'm kind of 'beat down' these days. Because others are also copying stuff. Like Garoq. He is copying my black 18650 kit.

Same deal there. We talked. And he basically didn't care how I felt about it.

I guess your a rare person Jeff.

Basically it's a dog eat dog world, and I guess I'm wearing milk bone underwear!

If I thought that people (more than one or two) would take my side, then I would say something in his thread. But I know that I would get a ton of young people taking his side. And it would start a bunch of drama.

And since I know he doesn't care (because we already talked), then there is really nothing I can do.

I just hope he falls on his face!

Looks like he's starting to do just that!
[unquote]

Now is this fair that a respected member should be faced with this just because some punk want to copy his designs to make money, what the hell has come of this forum it's time to take a stand a do what is right, if he dosn't care what a respected member thinks why should we care about him I think a ban is in order :banned:

No, Jayrob is right. People are viscous and would turn on him in a heartbeat to save a few dollars. (eg: when I sold sinks to the aurora 18650 host)
Of course, I can't say anything about it because I'd be a hypocrite. However, I am concerned about the issues of these dying after 10 minutes and the seller refusing the repair it. Edit: Wanting to charge the buyer for repairs.

Is this an isolated incident or are other buyers having problems with this seller as well?

Wow those words of mine look a lot more 'harsh' in a thread than they did in a PM! :yabbem:

But the main points, are that I realize that I hold no patents. And that since we had already talked, I knew I couldn't get anywhere but to cause some drama.

And I don't like drama...

And about Garoq. I guess although he is using the same host and heatsink design, his build is different in other ways.

But back to Sparkles. I will mention that I saw a quote from me in this thread. And it was a quote about my build. In my thread, I show all the details of the build. And since I machined the Frankenstein host for DTR, and I am using the same FlexModP3 driver that DTR used, I could honestly say that my build would perform the same as the Frankenstein. (diode efficiency will vary)

So my quote is about my build. Not this build. Really not cool to quote me about your build. When I was talking about my build.

P.S. My 2D Maglite is better than the 2C... The switch is much more heavy duty. And the battery supply is much more capacity! The head is the same size. Just the barrel is different. To fit D size batteries... (shameless plug - that's pay back for your quoting me out of context :na:)

Since I have been a member here, there has always been an unspoken code
amongst sellers.. Weather it be kits or builds, we all tend to avoid using the
same hosts or ideas...

There have been a few Ideas I have had, and started which were copied in one
way or another.

Its a crappy thing, when somebody does it in an 'in your face' manor.. I guess some
can live with being unoriginal.. :toilet:

I know every time someone has asked Jay to make one of the unique hosts that I found and done reviews on he PM's me and asks if it is OK with me. I always tell him of course but without fail he asks. That is just the kind of person he is.;)

This code is only shared by respected builders thoes that can't abide by these loose rules will get NO respect from me !

No respect = scum bag

Jayrob, Your Right and You should be able to speak what you think and not fear the Noob 100 post bashing idiots, Thats Right i said It!

This is Crap, you can;t pull that crap, quoting people on there own build and acting like it was said about your noob butt build.

Jayrob you Own!! And the fact that you show us how we can make our own lasers and you gave all the information and work it took to make a lot of what we do possible.

This is Shameful, and you owe the people who spent the $$ a working unit Sparkles!! Charge as much as you do for some 1/2 butt piece of work and when someone needs a repair your going Charge even More?

We need seller guidelines IMO. Think About this Everyone, The sellers on this forum have a direct impact on our hobby and the laws guiding it we should have guidelines for the people who are selling things like this. Not the guy who sells his laser but people who are like this trying to fling 1.5W lasers to any noob with a PP account, this is Getting outta control and if we don't start weeding out this kinda crap we are going kiss our hobby good bye.

This lame wont even back up his Expensive Crap and thats why he is Lame.
