Hello everyone. Here is another Phaser I've been working on. This one is a bit different than previous builds I've done. It has a sound module from a Next generation type I Phaser. Both were made by Playmates. This build features a custom metallic paint job, LED power on indicator, BDR06J Diode & G2 lens
from DTR, Copper Axiz module, Copper heat sink & Aluminum focus Adaptor courtesy of JAYROB, Flexdrive set to 550mA. Estimating between 800-875mW based on current & lens used. (Wish I had a meter.) Anyway I really enjoy building these. This is my new personal favourite. It burns really well and does a great job popping ballons. Lots of fun!

Does Jayrob sell that second black phaser in your last photo, as a kit?

No. That is an assault Phaser. I built that also. I was the 1st to do so as far as I know with the Playmates version.

Nice job!

Thanks for the link! +rep...

Is that Assault phaser one of the metal ones? They're expensive. I see them on ebay for a couple of hundred bucks!

Thanks Jay. No, It's the Plastic one from Playmates. The other one is made by Master replicas and is Metal. The Playmates version is easier to convert. The "clip" is AA sized where as the other has three AAA length wise(like a flashlight) in series. It is very nice though. Someone has built one of those using a green module. search Assault Phaser on you tube.

Could you build one with five watt ir diode and a blue one point eight comming out the same aparture with veriable focus for each of the wave lenths. The blue for show, the ir for burning power. I knowir ismore difficult to focuse but ill leave that for the more experienced builder. Ofcorse it willbe heavier due tomorebatteries

Very Dangerous.... Not to mention the Power Required
and the Heatsinking for 5W...

Just go with a 445nm LD or multiple 445nm LDs...
At least you will be sure of where the beam is going....

Yeah...you would not be able to fit all that into either one of these housings. With the assault Phaser I did contemplate knife edging a couple of 445's. I think I'll wait for the 4Watt diodes instead.

How about using dewalt eighteen volt drill for host, more room for big heat sink in chuck, more battery power. How would youclean up the power supply?
