I'm the nOOb, and LPF you all have been a great bOOn to me. I like Websters' take on a boon; a favor , an advantage, a blessing/comfort, being pleasant, benign, delightful and jolly. It has been a boon to have had LPF available for me to absorb , basically. I have been reading almost every post you have over the last two years. I joined a few months ago and this is my first post. I have to do this on a phone so I don't type much. By the way, my name is Mike and go by Maddog. That was the original username I used in the Army back in the 70's and 80's on the militarys' teletype network (precursor to the Internet before computers were invented). It was just an acronym for my initials, MD. I've used it eversince. My avatar is.my wife, great person. I was in radio repair/communications in the Signal Corps for ten years. Got into electrical work after that for a few years, (110/220/277), that type . Got into hvac and apt maintenance in the 90's. Did that till I had to stop working due to pain and other problems due to an injury I had when in the Army(82).. I've been on pain meds since the 90's just to work. It is a trauma related cyst in the middle of my spinal cord. Army never found it. It has enlarged to the point that I am losing feeling from the waist down, but still have chronic pain. That and a disc is protuding at T7 into the syrinx. The cyst is inoperable according to the Neurosurgeons. I have been waiting on VA and SSID for two years now. Could not get unemployment ins pymts due to I could not actively seek work.I paid in for 40 Years. I have a hearing on the 20th of this month with SSID judge to decide my case. So I have been economizing last few years. I pass the time for now salvaging parts from equipment and things I get from local computer repair shop. I have hundreds of laser diodes, red, if, uv. Motors, optics, Li-ion batteries and the like. I will start a build (laser) after I settle the SSID case. Sorry for the life history, I am ok with life now. I remain positive that things will work out, if not, what ya gonna do? But as I said, thanks LPF for just being there. I posted a picture of the batteries I rejuvenated in my user profile album. I sealed them in a food vacumn type bag after rejuving and charging. Keeps them neat. If you made it this far, thanks for listening.

Howdy! Welcome to LPF!
Sorry about your injury, that really sucks.

On the bright side, you have a mountain full of diodes and batteries, so you're better off than most of us LPF'ers, haha. You have a beautiful wife too. :p

Best wishes to you and your SSID case, and hope you enjoy your stay here!

Cheers!

Edit: I just saw your li-ion battery collection, and it's impressive to say the least.
I think all of us will enjoy a thread about reviving overdischarged batteries, so why don't you make a thread about it? *hint hint* :na:

Thank you four reply. I see you listed Seoul time.My wife is Korean, and I lived in Korea for 7 years. First went there in 1975. I graduated high school there. I feel I am part Korean myself. I actually am fluent in Hangulmal (Korean). I started learning by myself in Seoul when I was 16 years old. And I do have a few threads I want to post on some of the things I have come up with about lasers and electronic ideas or inventions of a sort that I have not seen posted or seen on Sams Faq. An yong ha sayo.

Awesome!
I was getting kinda lonely because there weren't a lot of Koreans in this forum.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you end up staying here for a while? What school did you graduate?

Your Korean hello just put a smile on my face, thank you! :thanks:

I would love some tutorials on your battery revival techniques!

Cheers!

Ryansoh3 I came.to Korea in 75 with family, father was army.officer. I went Seoul American High School on Yongsan . Took.accelerated classes and extra studies and grdduated in Jan 77. Middle of school year. We.lived in HaeBongChong, outside Yongsan near the Namsan Tunnel in a house with a Korean family. They were very rich.and wanted me to marry thier daughter, same age as me, so they could emigrate to America.. But I already fell in love with a Korean girl who lived at HanTan Gang, up.north near Chon Gok near.the DMZ. I actually went spear fishing in the Im Jim Gong on the DMZ for bass.Korean friend in Chon Gok cooked them up in his restaurant. I was worried the North Koreans might take a shot.at.me, I wasn't supposed to be in the DMZ. Anyway, I married for.love and.not.money. I.joined the army in Seoul, went to the States for training and came back to Korea for my first duty. Got.married then. Stayed .2 more years there, went to states. Went to Berlin Germany, then went back to Korea for 4 more years, then left army did to pain issues. My current wife is not t,,he same girl I married.back then. We met in Atlanta Georgia Starbucks, got married 5 years ago. She is the most wonderful person I ever met. She's a keeper. It's funny, I.talk Korean so much all the time that I even think Korean words , not.English, when I am doing things, projects and.such. My wife thinks it is funny, I am turning Korean. It.is a wonderful country, a bit more expensive to live there now than before. But I hope to get a chance to have my wife and I go back to Korea for a nice vacatio n/visit after I settle the Social Security Disability case. Wish me luck. It's all up to one man I don't even know to decide .my future. 8 more days and I should know after the Court hearing with the Judge.I hope.he is a fair man. Nice meeting you on.the web. Maybe I can visit you in HanGukA when/if we get over there. Choen SangGok Mon Hasumnida. KamSaHamNida tangshen choen sadom Got Tae. Chail Ga. Can't find any Korean characters, hope you can understand my romanized version.

Haha, you just go to a section of LPF, such as General here, and on the top left you'll see a "new thread" icon. Click on that, and you'll be able to start a new thread.

However, please be aware that if you don't first search for your question's answer, you will get criticized around here, and even neg rep as well. So please be thoughtful and judicious when you're posting.

Good luck and best wishes!
