New guy Here, actually posted in general forum about a few ideas / projects I was thinking of before I posted here. Hope posting in the general section with my questions, and replying to Qfox and posting this within a few hours of each other is considered trolling or breaking the multi-post rules.

WE like to know a little about you and your interests/training etc.
More info in your profile(like your location) and some photos are always a good idea- we love to see laser photos and here about what lasers you own. One good bit of advice is to always try to find your info by using our search. And use the proper boards when posting. If you have questions a good idea is to do a search, find who seems to have knowledge and send your questions to them via PM.

WELCOME TO LPF.

ps always use the edit feature to add more comments to a post already made- avoid 'double posting' and you will be fine.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

@laserbee, yep been reading them as I come across them for different topics, and immediately reading the stickied ones, I actually feel silly for asking in my question post about minimum power for burning, especially after I found a quasy-FAQ that actually explained what power levels are capable of what but... i Lost the thread and been trying to find it again. :(

@Hakzaw, Yea, I sorta skipped filling out the info background details in the profile, will do that in a bit. Indeed, visiting many forums it's usually the first thing you see someone post especially if the link that brought you to the website is one of a newbies post and the first reply to it was an agitated "USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!", or "USE GOOGLE!!" so anymore its the first thing I try to do especially since it makes your first thread post have a better impression when you have some if not most or all the information and simply just asking for a little experience from another person or people to back up your information, or you did some calculations and something just doesn't seem right but you can't seem to figure out what.

Yep, Already doing the pm thing to save on clutter, and because the information atm isn't quiet useful enough to merit a full thread or even using someone elses thread about the same thing.

Yep again, Most boards I've been to the double, triple, or Nth posting is either regarded as spam or looked at as a kids desperate attempt to get easy info, making sure their post stays on the front page of a category or to get a higher post count to make other people think they know what they are talking about, when in fact they are as knowledgable.

P.S. See I told you I edited my posts if I had something more to add. :na:
I do have one question While I have people attention on this post, when anyone refers to the Aixiz module I presume they are refering to AixiZ 10pack 12x30mm Housing Blanks, AixiZ

kmor, pay attention to this also... "module" also refers to a pre-assembled hostless laser.

example:
laser pressed into module
driver attached to laser diode

these are a obviously more costly.

housing is correct too. but i just didn't want you getting frustrated if you search for modules and come up with expensive units pre assembled.

I and many others did the same thing but if we know more about you and your location help can come quicker and be more complete.

I do have one question While I have people attention on this post, when anyone refers to the Aixiz module I presume they are refering to AixiZ 10pack 12x30mm Housing Blanks, AixiZ

In almost all cases the word 'blank' is used in front of module when there is no diode or driver. DPSS green modules, for instance, are always a complete laser modules ready to be mounted is a host and powered up. Some Lab lasers are called modules and they are most often meaning a ready to use lab laser only needing the proper power source.

For AixiZ blank modules--- It has the part for pressing the diode- the back housing( which, if small enough, can house the driver (SMD) like flexdrives- rckstr- Jib etc) and the front part that has a place for the lens with the ability to change the focus- these always come with a 'stock' acrylic lens that can be used for many wavelengths but for some diodes(like 445nm) a glass lens is a must(also available, as well as drivers, from AixiZ et al,in the matching the wavelength.

Way back in 2005 iirc Andrew (Dr Lava at CandlePowerForums atm) contacted AixiZ about getting the blank modules in bulk as a group buy.

Since then AixiZ has provided ~ 200,000 (afaik) of these for
installing diodes and building lasers world-wide.

The name 'AixiZ' is owned by AixiZ but gets used as a generic term for the 12X30 blank housing by many. But it is the property of 'AixiZ International'.

Very much like the use of KleenX is used for all tissues.

Many sell aixiz blank modules/housings but only AixiZ ( and those who re-sell AixiZ) sell AixiZ blanks.

AixiZ gets high marks from nearly all who have done biz with this Houston, Tx based company. Thier product support and after-the-sale customer help is excellant as are thier warrantees. AND YES-- I am definetly biased as I am not only a customer of AixiZ but also a friend and am very lucky
to be only 40 min. drive to visit Dr Chuck at his shop.

If anyone has any simple questions about AixiZ products feel free to send them to me and if I cannot help you I will find the answers you need. Many members here re-sell AixiZ products and you can feel safe doing business with all of them.
Although AixiZ is on ebay with >7000 positive feedbacks they also sell from thier own site and on Amazon and prefer for us to order from thier site instead of ebay. hope this has been helpful.

Yeah... you got it.... those are the Modules...
