Yob 405nm Aurora C6 500mW

Oct 20, 2010
As a Christmas present to myself I bought a yobresal 405nm Aurora C6 rated at over 500mW with Aixiz glass. He said it would probably go up to 600mW with a 405-G-1 but from what I read the divergence is worse with that lens so I think I'll just stick with the Aixiz glass. Departing from his previous buck drivers, he upgraded to a boost driver and as a result "The laser will now have longer runtimes and maintain a higher output all the way until the batteries are drained." He supplied it with an UltraFire, 18650, 3000mAh, protected battery. It can defocus way inside or outside of tight focus so it can be used as a UV flashlight to search for fluorescing objects.

Luke was spot on about power output with the boost drive. Look at the power plots for two different 18650 batteries.

405 yob .5Watt with UltraFire 18650 3.7V 3000mAh battery, Aixiz glass. 521mW peak

These are some very stable beams!

A few beamshots:
The first two taken with my EVO phone, the third shot with a Canon T2i. Amazing how different sensors and internal filters capture the beams.
