Greetings to All.
Just wanted to throw this out there, in case someone has such a beast lying around.
I am looking for a mechanical vacuum pump capable of reaching 10 microns and below (used, of course). For this cause, I offer 150 eu, which is 200 dollars exactly. Also looking for a vacuum gauge. On A slightly more laser related note, I'm Also waiting on some ArIon offers. So if anyone has anything I need they wish to sell, then speak up!

I'm terribly sorry.... saw title, couldn't resist...

EDIT: are you sure it can go down to 10 microns?

Amusing As it is gentlemen, I still need to purchace a pump. Could we mabe head back to topic?

I'd think even a high quality 2-stage refrigeration duty vacuum pump would have trouble getting below 10 microns, so I don't know that you'd be able to get such a pump for $200

A 2-stage could, given enough time and A zeolite trap. I may have to purchace/create A diffusion pump later. But for now, Any offers would be great!

Yep - to pump down gas lasers is one use.

You pump down your plasma tube then let in the right mixture of gases to make different lasers e.g. helium and neon for a home built hene, cabon dioxide and other gases for a co2

Most lasers dont work at atmospheric pressure (one exception: the n2 laser), so a vacuum pump is a vital piece of hardware for the homebrewer.

Thank you for All your help. I have purchaced A pump on ebay, capable of 30 microns base pressure, for 238 dollars. (w/shipping). The company was recommended by the belljar, And that was A crucial factor. You can improve the ultimate vacuum quite easily. (using A trap)
Actually, this pump is going to be used to pull down A co2 laser, and then in A farnsworth fusor.
Does anyone think I should post up A review, when it arrives?

Just A trick I picked up. If my Account is hacked, the poster will not follow this simple rule, And thus will be exposed. Kind of like A sig which you copy into your post, manually. When I get the pump, A review will be forthcoming.
