I'd like to buy a green, 400-500mw, 523nm laser. I've taken a look at some of the beautiful builds around here--some great looking custom built hosts!--and probably can't afford anything in that range, but I do have a budget of ~$200 U.S.

If that's enough to get a conversation going, let me know. :yh:

High powered greens, especially in portable format, are extremely expensive.

I doubt you'll get anything in that range without at least doubling or tripling your budget.

Fair enough. Thanks for the reality check.

You COULD get lucky, and I hope you do, but from what I've seen... it's mostly 100-200 mW stuff that gets sold on here for around 100$.

Last time I saw a Hercules (500mw) green, it was going for 1400.

You'll be able to get a 400mW 532nm for around $200-$220 (lazerer, o-like) but you're looking at nearer $300+ for 500mW.

the cheapest green of this strength is at o-like which is $274.99 which is bottom range

so that budget won't even get you close

Thanks. I just checked it out, seems like a reasonable option (given the lack of other reasonable options).

I've got the 500 (expect the 400 is exactly the same just less powerful) and it is very good.
Nice solid feeling host, loverly smooth (though slightly stiff) threading, and overspec.
Damn bright it is too :D
