I give a lot of technical briefings and presentations and would love to have a color other than red or green to use as my laser pointer, which should grab the audiences attention (I love the 589s!). If you have a low power pointer you'd be willing to part with, let me know! Thanks in advance!

Zack, be ready to spend atleast $200 to get your hands on a 589! A low powered 445 can be made for $70 I believe. I can't find the thread exactly, but it was a nice build.

I'm not actually sure that a 445 can lase at under 10mW to be honest. So to achieve that power in a 445, you might actually have to grab one of the new single-mode low power 445s. As of now, save from harvesting it from a pico projector, the cheapest source I know of for a bare 445 single mode diode is about $200.

ooh, $200 is rough just for a diode. I was referring to a 200 or 300mw build I saw earlier. I could have swore I favorited it. But 200mw wouldn't be safe for a presentation. In the chances that it gets misfired into someones eyes, it could do some serious damage.

RHD do not forget you can drop the output of 445 with a ND filter to achieve the desired power of 445 :)

I feel like this will create substantial additional heat to contend with.

Well, I don't think anyone here got it yet, but it is 10mW with IR filter, and 473nm definitely qualifies as different:

LZSK - 473nm 10mW Water Proof Blue Laser Pointer

Really want to see a review on that laser:eek:

I was very close to ordering and reviewing this laser, but the timing wasn't great for me. I wish they'd grab some of the higher powers this comes in.

I didn't ask them, but I'm assuming this is a BobLaser. Can anyone confirm?
