To buy a 50-100mw blue/violet laser diode, and then put it into a 5mw blue/violet laser skeleton? Im in the U.S, so you cant but a laser above 5mw legally.

You would no doubt need to change the Laser Driver in
the 5mW Host as well...

That depends on what you buy....

This is a Laser Diode....

As you have already been advised....
You will need to do a little research and reading on
the Forum to bring yourself up to Laser speed...:yh:

Thanks again! As I have never had a real laser like I have been hoping for. There just to expensive. lol. So this would be a cheaper alternative for me as well. :)

All that work, just for 50mw of 405nm ?

You would be better off buying one of the $7 ebay "5mw" 405nm lasers. You'll probably get close to 50mw anyway.

I recommend building a laser from scratch (well not quite) as its very fun and rewarding.

I would start with a high power red since they can be made so cheaply.

Buy a laser host "kit"
Buy a rkcstr driver - rkcstr.com, Micro-Drive and laser diode electronics
Buy a LPC-815 sled
Buy the required batteries
Build a test load

Its really pretty simple IF you spend a lot of time researching and you can get 300mW of 658nm for as low as $50
