It has been scientifically proven that there is no such thing as too many lasers

Right?

Well... I had to trade one poison for another ;D ;D

The proBEASTeus now belongs to r34p3rex, and I now have a ~110mW 473nm labby!

I knew, when I saw the title of this thread, EXACTLY who's it was! :p That is a NICE LASER! :D

How do you feel about the trade so far?

And if you really wanted, you could turn batter powered right? It looks pretty small for a labby! I can't wait to see more pictures, or even some videos... especially when your done with you RGB project!

That is pretty amazing given the huge efficiency loss.

Congrats!

I guess it'd munch batteries quickly though, big pump diode, TEC and all...

Maybe there's a LiPo battery out there that would work...  :p

Which makes me think, what is the input voltage & amps for that unit Gus?

Re: Wooo-hooo... 100mW of DPSS blue...

The power supply is designed for 120vac input and it doesn't really say what the output voltages are. BUT I'm guessing the pump diode is probably like 5W or so. So figure around 3v @ ~5A if you wanted to power it by battery, and that's just for the pump diode. The tec probably takes a good amount of amperage as well.

Well I'm sure you could do some tests on your AC/DC converters output...

The power supply on this unit is a bit different than the conventional PSUs that go into scanners. Most are designed to have an ac/dc converter which then goes to the driver, with the driver and converter being separate units. This unit, on the other hand, is all contained in one robust and very nicely heat sinked box. Here is a picture that was taken by mariomaster of the PSU and the laser head together.

So pretty! I may have to consider trading one of my high powered hand helds for one of these ;)

Niiiiiiiiccccccccce!
