First one yes, but it's pushing it a little. Use a good heatsink. Second one no, it's only 1.5v.

I don't know if anyone has ever tried using these for laser diodes, they're meant for LED's, which are less sensitive than laser diodes, and more tolerant of voltage spikes etc.

I wouldn't risk it really, I'd buy a rkcstr driver or a drlava flexdrive off the buy/sell/trade section of the forum instead. Unless someone has tested these thoroughly with an oscilloscope, it's not really worth the risk.

I think they're a bit too thin for significant current, the resistance is too high and may burn out.

hope you didn't open it so you can return it... You can try using those cables, but there will be~500mA running through them... I think they will get warm. Ethernet cables are a bad choice, since you have to rip them apart and they are a bit expensive to do that. Try using speaker cable or buy some wire

What do you mean by solid? They can be any wires as long as they are not too thick or too thin. Speaker wire like this--

Breadboard wires should be 22 AWG, while the CAT5 Ethernet cables are 24AWG

I actually think they will work, but they are a bit too small to fit into the breadboard. I don't really know what to buy, I've never used a breadboard. You can just solder the parts together without a breadboard, it is not that much more difficult
