Where are the positive and negative connections?

Hey,

I found an old CD-ROM driver called "Diamond Data CD-ROM" and when I opened it up and found the laser it is almost impossible for me to work out which are the positive and negative connections. I counted 10 different connections and like I said I cannot tell which are the right ones. Here are a few images:

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but you will not be able to make any kind of visible laser with that.

CD rom drives use weak low power Infrared diodes.

You want a DVD or Blu Ray BURNER diode, then you can make a killer laser for yourself.

That diode you have will not even make a dot on the wall.
