Does anyone know a host that i can use to make a blue-ray pointer that can fit the aixiz housing in with the rkcstr driver? i prefer to use 3AAA or 3AA but any input is welcome. thanks for your help ahead of time

If you use the rkcstr driver for this you cannot use three AAA batteries (not enough voltage). If you want to use AAA's you will need to use a flexdrive. You CAN use two 10440's (with a dummy) with the Rkcstr though. Here is one of the easiest ones to get started on. Get yourself a jayrob heat sink too, though

wait so can i use two 10440 AAA's with a rckstr driver and power a 803t diode up to 140-150mW? or 140mA?

yes you can but i can only get a max of 120 mw out of two 10440 batteries at 130-150 ma's :p

140mW is probably too optimistic for two 10440's. John is in the ballpark. You can believe him. He has built several of these into pen-style pointers.

so if i got a blue-ray diode and a rckstr driver set at a current by him cuase i dont want to risk burning the diode, what should i get it set at to ensure i get maximum mW? i would be putting it in a aixiz housing into a leadlight host, using 2 10440 to power it

Thanks dave its nice being backed up by a great builder like yourself let me add, you and ace are the reason I am now hooked on DYI builds

I usually get about 100 mw out of 125-135 ma's 120 from 150 and like you warned me about and i did'nt listen after 100 ma heatsinking is a must if your going to have it on more than say 30 seconds -I learned the hard way :'(

You don't get guarantees in laser building. You will ALWAYS be at risk of burning the diode. If you want to increase the odds that your laser will live a long time in a leadlight type case, you should limit the current to about 120mA. That should give you 110mW or so. That is still enough to burn stuff, but will not stress the diode much.
