Voltage spikes?

Does this driver circuit need an additional capacitor attached to the laser diode, to prevent voltage spikes? Or should it be fine as is?

Lots of people seem to think these cheap Chinese drivers aren't very stable and will kill your diodes... but I have had different experiences. In most of my builds, I have used these converted LED drivers without *any* stability caps attached, and they have been running perfectly. And look at it - it has built in tantalums. Those things are beastly.

Point being, I don't think it's necessary. There is nothing wrong with adding one if you have the space, and all it can do is make it safer, but I don't think it's necessary.
