Violet burn what color best?

I have 100mW 405nm, I'm trying to burn things (balloons mostly) at a range, but before I got get a lot of them I'm wondering what my laser would prefer to burn:thanks:

get a 12x and you can burn just about anything

I'm new... You mean the Diode form a 12x DVD burner right? or blu-ray?

12x sled yes.... its a bluray diode

Would it be possible to exact one of these diodes and replace a laserpointers Diode? If so how would I know max voltage, amps, etc?

It depends on what laser diode that pointer had.

500ma is considered a pretty safe current for 12x diodes. This usually gets you up to around 700mw. with a 700mW 405, i can instantly pop ballons at 30feet and I was able to light a match head at 28 feet (after a few seconds).
