SPECTRA PHYSICS LASER | HGR Industrial Surplus

This thing is massive - 15W, 480V three phase... only $283 and I was notified that they will likley take less since its been sitting... I'm on the mailing list for a couple of industrial surplus sites.

While its very cool, I wouldnt go anywhere near a laser of this magnitude, even if I could power it.

Aye. I'm in the same boat there. 15W is just... too much. Though if its been sitting its questionable if it will work at all.

Despite that, fantastic deal for anybody daring enough to try it.

Freight costs can run $200-500 depending.

And you don't need to have it cranked at 15W all the time to enjoy it.

But if you've got 480VAC/3P in your garage, I'd give it a sniff. ;)

Awesome, costs as much as a good 445nm. :)

Hope the shipping doesn't kill the deal or the unit itself.

yeah the things is, for those that don't know, Argons need monthly 'exercise' or they slowly die.. so this could be just a parts buy--Thanks for the heads-up tho- LPF is so big there may be a member willing to jump on this bad boy...+4

I ... May have to look into that.

Argons don't always die if they aren't run. That's only the unhealthy soft sealed ones. If you think about it, a lot of the Argons we own have sat on shelves in a basement somewhere.

Hopefully if this one doesn't fire up, I can tesla it into running, and let it run the pressure back down.

Oh My!!

Sure he could. Through a towel over the PSU and you've got a handy night stand. But of course, he lacks the power requirements, so I'm not sure he's serious.

Guys, be real!

There's no way in Poseidon that I could keep this in my dorm! I'm pushing it with the HeCd I have, and the second I'm getting, on top of the SP-127!

HeCds are MUCH larger than I thought they were. So yeah, space limited.

Though power, meh. I am able to run 220V 2 phase with a spider box, I could possibly jury-rig something to get the power for this. However, there's no way I could get the current :p

One day I'll have a large enough space for one of these.

60A 480VAC 3P??? Who has that in their common household electrical socket?

I believe there's a Spectra Physics 270 Exciter on eBay for $300+shipping too

Wait. HeCd? Where'd you find that? Lucky bastard!

This current one is dead, I bought it dead for about $70 shipped.

My next one is currently working, and has mirrors for 354nm UV. Currently has high He pressure so it is being run for a month or so to burn that off. :)

Nice I had a Hg vapor one a while back, but it got busted. I want a Cu vapor one!

Jealousy.

There were a couple Cu vapors that were on PL recently. A couple grand for the lot. Though it was overseas, and they were 220V 2P.

I am excited for the working HeCd. Almost as hard to find as a working 612...

A HeSe would be nice too, or a whitelight HeCd. Though those need to be specially built to allow for a higher density of Cd ions.
