Hello,

I have one of the popular projector diodes, (445nm) that im driving at 1000mA,
to help protect the diode, I thought of soldering an SMD TVS diode (I have a few bipolar ones) between the leads of the diode (case pin shorted to negative for mine).
just as an extra messure for protection.
will soldering TVS even do anything to protect a laser diode?
I mostly used TVS in the past for things such as IGBTs and power switching devices, but never before for something as sensetive as an LD.
Im also running this at 4.2V, and the TVS I had in mind of using has a clamping voltage of 5V, main reason I wanted to use TVS over a zener, is just that TVS are far more faster for those quick transients.

Thanks.
