Thread deletion removal?

So I am on the forums just lurking around quite a bit and we all know that we get a lot of trolls/spammers. Every time one of them posts the thread gets deleted right? Would it be possible to not only remove the thread but remove the space it takes up too?

What I mean is that after the thread is deleted, there is still a space that is left behind with the reason for deletion. Maybe I'm the only one with this opinion, but I think it would look a little nicer, especially to newcomers, if that space was deleted altogether. That would tidy up some pages and leave room for actual content to be seen. Even if there was like a 2-day delay on removal of the space, I think it would make the forums look a lot nicer. That's just me though:)

What do you think?

It's possible by mods or admina depending on the permission the administration gave the moderator as far as I know with any forum software it's always able to modify permissions and some lower perms just moderate thread instead of mysql removal

I usually completely delete threads if it's just spam or something similar without leaving a reason why. If the thread had some content in it and discussion I would delete it with a reason why I did so. This also lets us bring it back just in case :)

That makes good sense. But looking through the different pages, and I'll use the bluray/violet diode page as example, Almost half the page is taken up with

"Deleted by (suchandsuch)
Reason: Spam"

It really just takes up so much room that it almost makes it annoying to look for needed/wanted info.

I don't know, maybe I'm just ranting  Either way I think completely removing purely spam posts would just make the place look nicer for all of us.

I get what you mean. My rule was to keep spam posts that were created inside threads still there and not remove them completely as they are part of a thread. However, I do like your idea. I'll start doing that from now :)

Thanks for listening  Sorry for the rant :p

Please don't entirely remove spam posts in threads, though. Otherwise it'll take my spam can images out of context, and make me look like the spammer. :)

Darn, didn't think of that. Plus, I actually started to like your regular spam can posts teehee :D
