Hey guy's I'm thinking of doing away with my tec based LPM and going with something a bit nicer and more accurate. I've already got a nice volt display from my current LPM (0-19.999V) and was thing about reconfiguring it with this Ophir Laser Measurement 20c A 1 Y Sensor Laser Power Meter LPM 1706111 New | eBay. if i remember correctly there was some talk about some not so nice unit's floating around but i believe that was a while back. any input or info about this one would be nice.

:thanks:
Andrew

The 20C is one I believe you will want to be after, so yes I think that's an excellent option for you and its at a great price. You couldn't ask for a better price. :)

well yeah it's a great pick that's the other reason i want to check if this is the real deal. i believe this is the same model head used in the 5w LPM from Laserbee.

Im pretty sure i know how to hook it up. just remove the op-amp and tec and replace with this setup.

Edit: credit for the Diagram goes to Seoul_lasers, as i was not the one who created it.

Yes it is similar...

Which OpAmp and Tec are you going to remove....

well i would buy a new project box to house the 2x9v's for the Ophir and 1x9v for the volt meter display. But i would be removing the Jufran88 OpAmp and my 8x8 tec from customthermoelectric.com

It is indeed exactly what's used in the "Limited Edition" 5W LaserBees.

Just add +/-9V ( I believe the datasheet says 5-18V ) and you're golden. :)

I actually bought this exact some head from the same place. He (AW) is based down in San Diego. Normally AW does not send to Sweden but he was cool enough to do so after en email. Paid him an extra 15USD and he sent is as a "gift". The head has been tested against a known laser source at the local university. Tests showed to be within 1% @ 500mW 1000mW and 2000mW. This thing can take up to 20 Watts with cooling it is said. Rumor has it that these head can be off by quite a bit but I have not seen it.

Use that head with a 4 1/2 Volt meter and you will have a nice little LPM

Thats the volt meter I currently have with my tec based lpm. I want to get it so bad but am going to have to put it on the back burner for now because my 2 year old son broke a 46" TV that doesn't belong to me so now I have to replace it. :( hopefully soon though because it would be really nice to get.

That sucks :(

See if you can get a replacement with the same, or better specs, but of a different brand, and if there is some leeway on time.

There are constantly good deals on flat screens, bound to be some great ones over black friday, and before the holidays.

Yeah it really sucks not much leeway. I'm thinking of just going to best buy and pick up this lg 46" for $600 and do the 18 month financing which would only be about $40 a month. So much for my 47" 3d TV.

My $0.02, for whatever it's worth, it's a lesson I had to learn the very hard way.

Avoid financing at all costs. At $40 a month you will still be paying it off a year or two from now.

thanks for your input. I've got the money to pay for the TV outright, but it's 18 months no interest if paid in full before the 18 months is up. also it's a good way for me to build credit as I'm only 25. and with 2 kids I'd feel safer to keep my money incase of an emergency, make the small payments, and build up more credit.

ok guys so i ended up getting one of these today and well testing it out it with a 405nm and 445nm with saftey glasses on it seams like there is a oily finger print on the sensor. with the glasses on when pointing the laser at it, it shows up as white lines that look like finger prints.

How can you safely clean the sensor?

That doesn't sound like a "new" (as indicated on the
auction) OPHIR Thermopile to me...
