Ok... SO who remembers this picture?! I know I do!!! I think it was in the national geographic with the big holographic eagle on the front cover. It was the March 1984 issue. Here's the picture:

Now, of course the picture is cool. But, the coolest part of this picture is that the guy in the picture POSTS OVER ON PL!! This was one of my favorite pictures EVER as a kid and now, through the magic of the internet, I can actually talk to the dude in the picture!!! Crazy!!

That seems like a cool site! See allot of familiar faces. What's the difference (in a nut shell) between PL & LPF?

PL is basically dedicated to lab style lasers and lasershow systems (galvos, DACs, DMX, etc)

whereas LPF is mosty pointers and handheld units

I was looking around some more, seems very similar to LPF, especially since so many members are here too!

There is a talk about pointer over there, its just that laser displays/modules get a higher kinda priority :)

PL is more advanced with a generally older population often geared towards laser scanning.

I have a few issues of National Geographic from the 1980s, but I don't think I have the March 1984 one. :(

pl is scanners and more gas lasers

lpf is laser pointers.

and im having my dad check his collection :)

Next time I go to my friend's house I'll have to look in his dad's collection...
