one of my first questions here on the forums was about TEM (transverse electromagnetic mode). I never got the answer here on the forums, and let it slip away. Today It popped up in my head so here is a great page about what it is and what it looks like. and there is a little live graph too.

Section 2.7: TEM Mode, Beam Diameter,

Wikipedia has an excellent article about transverse modes as well here.

Rp photonics also has an excellent article about laser modes in general here.

the thing about wiki is that I didn't know what TEM stood for, LoL. so it would correct TEM with Temp.

I guess it's impossible for a laser to have three peaks. It must either be two or four. :undecided::p
