Tec popped off of Laserbee

I have a LaserBee 2.5W USB
The Tec (Or is it called a thermopile?)
Whatever it is called, it popped off the heatsink.

Can I re-attach it?
What the correct adhesive to use to reattach it?
Will I need to recalibrate it?
How do i recalibrate it?

If I have to recalibrate, I would like to re-coat it too.
(first time I used it I focused the laser
and burned the surface a bit in one spot)
What do I recoat it with?

It might be best to send it back to Jerry for some TLC...

My advice... send it off to Jerry to get fixed. Full recalibration and recoating is only $80 iirc.

Those don't just pop off under normal usage... just saying...

You'll need to ship it off to Jerry to get this all fixed. You'll need to change internal calibration constants to recalibrate it, and the method of doing that is not public knowledge.

You're in good hands though.

Honestly have no idea I just got 3 new 445 diodes, I was testing all of them,
And when I was repositioning the lpm the it just popped off the heatsink???

If there was no unusual stress on the TEC then Jerry may not have used enough thermal adhesive, this should be covered under the unit's warranty.

IMHO it sounds like the thermal epoxy was not mixed correctly (not enough or not right ratio) and was weak thus letting it break so easy.

I got your PM this morning... I just responded.

As was stated above by other members... If the Sensor
was not mechanically damaged in any way it will require
a cleaning and re-attachment and re-calibration. It may
also require a re-coating before re-calibration.
That we will only know after inspection of the Thermopile
Sensor head.

It is to be noted that this has happened once before
when an unconnected Thermopile Sensor was knocked
off a table and landed on a ceramic floor...

Warranties on manufacturing defect are granted to
original owners for a period of 6 months.
We find that is long enough to find any defects in
manufacturing of an LPM.

Well there are other options.
A person near me owns a usb laserbee meter.
It would not be much trouble to reattach and recoat the sensor and calibrate it against another laserbee meter.
I have built a few diy meters and found some very good paint seems to be the same kind others use, i know because i tested it against one of jerrys meters and it was the same for all NM within 1mw.
