I have yet to come across a piece of glass fluorescent to green.

Not anymore! BEHOLD!  :D

is that true florescence? looks good to me but im no expert.

Indeed it is, when the beam looks AMBER rather then green, is florescencing.

Nice find there Chad, I wonder what type of glass is that?

All glass I have seen flourescses with green.

:D

Yea, but too late, I was drinking coke the other day and just thought of shining my laser through the bottom of the glass and saw the same effect , and I was all like "heh! well I'll be damned..." :D Yea, maybe most glass does this, but when you shine it through a window the flourescence glow is overpowered by the green reflection, and the same thing happens with any thin piece.I guess I just needed a thick piece of clear glass to see it. :P

Re: SWITCH! look! glass that's fluorescent to 532n

I think the glass has to be fairly thick to do it - I think I saw the effect in a heavy glass paperweight.

Er.
I coulda told you this :P
My rather nice Glendale laser goggles have 80% VLT, and are thus very good at detecting fluorescence from 532nm, as ZERO visible green passes but orange / amber fluorescence is very easy to see.
I can detect fluorescence in objects just by shining a greenie on the roof (with no lights on) to diffuse it, anything that fluoresces is easily visible.

Re: SWITCH! look! glass that's fluorescent to 532n

You mean on the ceiling, I think. :-? Anyway, so if you shine it through a window do you still get the same effect?

I also remeber some older threads with some piece of glass or acrylic that made bright red fluorescence as the green beam passed through. That was cool. :D

Re: SWITCH! look! glass that's fluorescent to 532n

Hm, you know I have some really thick and long piece of glass and when you shine the laser through it at an angle and sideways (like at the edge of the glass) it bounces up and down the side of the glass. Its hard to explain but it looks really cool. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Yea I know what you mean, I've seen pictures of that happening too. It's the same internal reflection in fiber optics. :P
