I just received the Streamlight WayPoint from Amazon. I got it $61.00 shipped.
Inside view of the box the WayPoint came in.
Comes with a 12V DC car power cord.
It's a pistol grip type spotlight with 3 levels of light. High, Low and Strobe. The levels are controlled by the switch on the side. The on off switch is a reverse clickie.
The body is made of high impact polycarbonate.
The lens is made of plastic.
Uses a Cree
The Waypoint has an adjustable stand. It clicks into what angle you want to set it at. It can almost adjust to 180°.
Uses 4 C Batteries. Opening the battery compartment is opened by loosening a thumbscrew.
From Streamlight's website specs.
C4® LED Illumination Output:
High - 115,000 candela peak beam intensity/210 lumens
Low - 10,000 candela peak beam intensity/20 lumens
Runtime (using alkaline batteries):
High – 8.5 hours
Low or Strobe - 120 hours
--------------------------------------
I took lux reading with some fully charged Radio Shack C size nimh 1.2V 3000mAh Batteries fully charged with my Meterman LM631.
Streamlight WayPoint High - 26,684 lux @ 1 meter
Streamlight WayPoint Low - 2380 lux @ 1 meter
---------------------------------------
Streamlight WayPoint @ 96"
Streamlight WayPoint, High @ 32'
Streamlight WayPoint, Low @ 32' (In real life there is some side spill)
Streamlight WayPoint @ 146' or 44.5 meters
Streamlight WayPoint @ 210' or 64 meters
--------------------------------------
The Streamlight WayPoint feels well balanced in my hand with the batteries. The WayPoint has a "gripper" rubber in front of the hand grip to help you hold it in your hand.
The 2 colors offered are black or yellow. The price for the black was a little higher than the yellow. About $3.00 more.
The switch is on the hard side to press.
I was surprised the WayPoint is smaller than I thought it would be.
The beam has the typical Cree rings. The rings don't bother me. The tint on my light is very white. The light levels seem well spaced to me.
I got a high lux number in high. 26,684 lux @ 1 meter.
Streamlight says a runtime at high for 8.5 hrs! Nice long runtime! Low is 120 hrs!
I like that the WayPoint uses common C Batteries.
